Hey guys do any of you have or have had the same problem? I have a 3 door a3 and my drivers seat tilts but does not slide forward for the passenger to get in the back, I've searched the Internet and all I can find is a little clips broke and if I take it to audi it's gonna cost over 300 for summoned to replace the clip the clips only about £10 to buy x

Does the pull handle under the front of the seat work to slide it back and forth?

Yea that works but when I use that it loses my seat position so then have to readjust my seat x

In that case, it is most likely to be the clips. Otherwise, it wouldn't move at all with the lift arm.

If Audi are wanting circa £300 to do the job, it sounds a little labour intensive and probably a fiddly job to do. German engineering although renound for great build quality, sometimes sucks!

I would try and search for a local VW/Audi independent specialist within your area and see what they quote you. Are you anywhere near Wednesbury?

Shaun.

Apparently they have to take the seat apart n I called up n its 120 an hour labour :( would be cheaper to get a new seat I think lol x

Yeah unfortunately, main dealer franchises usually charge anything between £80.00 - £150.00 an hour, because they can. At those rates, cheaper to get a new seat maybe haha.

Independent specialists will be much cheaper to use. I do have a contact in the west mids that may be able to help you out but i don't know how far you are from Wednesbury...

I would imagine stripping the seat apart to get to the offending clips is probably about right tbh - doesn't really sound far fetched to me.

Ironically I'm repairing an A4 Cab seat tomorrow amongst other jobs with the exact same issue, it is fiddly tbh & takes a little timer to position it all, but we can do it for less than £300, if its the issues suspected.

I'm in Stoke tomorrow if you wanted to pop by to ascertain the issue 1st with a view to get the part & repair.

Well I'm driving up the M5/M6 early doors if you want to meet me at a service station, but it would be just to check what's at fault, no more as got a date with a few cars lol.

Work all over, but book jobs to visit all the time.
