Evening all,

First S1 - only had it for two days and WOW! Incredible. Coming from a 185 A1 - this thing is like a rocket!

Anyway, I bought my S1 on Saturday and it is exactly two years old with 45K miles on it. It is on the Flexible Longlife Service schedule and had an Inspection/oil change at 23K miles. It is now overdue a service and I have been told by Audi it needs a full service (Plugs/oil/pollen/inspection etc). I have told them to ditch the pollen as I will do that myself (already have an OEM filter).

They have quoted me £475 for the full service. How does this fare up to everyone? It seems a little on the steep side to me and I shall be ringing around other Audi garages for quotes....

Any input gratefully received.

Alex

I'm following but mine hasn't been serviced yet I can't comment. I've found it really hard to get cost estimates as each dealer can set their own price. I do know that mine will price match on a written quote using OEM parts so I'll be shopping around too

Doesn't have to be the Audi garage. Mine's brand new and it's going to the VW dealer for its first service.

If you bought it from a dealer they should be servicing the car for you .
I assume you bought privately check out any local vw/ audi specialists and get a cost and the main dealer should match it .

Dealer was only interested in selling the gap insurance and the lifetime shine. Dealers don't care about the service department. I find it should be them to offer up the information when your buying a car. Every dealer i've bought a car from hasn't mentioned it.
Here's how they should conduct the conversation after leaving aside the polish and the gap insurance: Ok sir we have a competitive service package(al/s1) and go on to explain your needs, longlife servicing or yearly......but nope! signed the paperwork, pay the cash and next please...numbers ..numbers ...numbers.

Glad to hear your enjoying your new S1. Is there any pictures??

In relation to the servicing cost, it sounds a bit high. My local actually gives a 10% discount when you mention Audi-Sport.Net to them! I'd definitely try getting alternative quotes, but it would be good to get your Audi stamp in the service book for when it comes to resale.

Cheers for the replies chaps!

Photos will be up this weekend (after is first proper clean & valet)

I've sent off for a quotation from a local VAG specialist. I've used them before with my A1. They're all ex Audi techs and use OEM parts. I have a year left of warranty and want to keep it intact, however I have read as long as genuine OEM parts are used, going to a third party garage will not affect warranty. Any thoughts?

I've heard the exact same thing about the use of OEM parts and as long as the third party is also VAT registered it will keep your warranty intact.

Ha, my Audi dealership invoice says 5L of engine oil was $150 AUD roughly a bit over 100 euro

Yeah the garage I use is vat registered. I can't see the point of paying Audi labour costs.

It this for a standard oil change? If so, I would suggest you shop around for a better deal as it seems high.

I did ask that question and they said its oil change, filters and spark plugs. I was expecting alot more to honest.

To be fair, this actually sounds like a good deal then. I'd be happy enough with this price considering whats being done.

You could always ask Mike via the Parts Request tab (top of page) to price you up a service kit, which you can supply to the dealer doing the service. That way your making a good savings on the parts that would be used, including oil.
