Servicing Costs

after this fright from an independant, audi on the silverlink in newcastle said 480 in complete for the 80000 mile svc, so better but still a bit expensive,

end of the day going to keep the car so has to be done

Got a 60k service on my 3.0V6 due shortly - anyone had any prior knowlege of garages in West London area and costs? I was thinking of taking it back to Fontain (where I bought it from) but want to get some comparator costs before going in.

Are there any big watch outs on the 60k service?

I have an 02 A4 1.8T Sport and had my cambelt, water pump, tensioners + all assicated items changed at 40K, total cost 253, this was carried out by a qualified Volve fitter gone over to the dark side, he's based in St Leonards, if you live in this area and would like his number let me know, this is the third Audi I've had and he does all my servicing, I wouldn't trust it to Audi Eastbourne, they did the first service on my first Audi and I reckon they ripped me off 485 sounds a lot to me.:respekt:

I'd have a look around, even if you've spoken to Fontain - they aren't cheap.

I posted something a few days ago: http://audi-sport.net/vb/showthread.php?t=54185

Fontain turned out to be a few hundred quid more than my local Audi dealer. Although they have done a load of work for me in the past. Now I am thinking that they are starting to play on their name... I hope not.

My 2003 A4 TDI 130 is in as we speak at a VAG specialist (www.vwtec.co.uk) and is doing the cambelt etc for £260.

6th AVS - 115,000 miles £1060 including VAT @ York Audi, thank god it's a leased.

Long Life Service plus:
Replace fuel and pollen filters
Replace rear pads
Replace cracked rear anti roll bar & bushes
Replace cam belt & tensioner
Free wash and vacuum !!

Better start puttting your pennies away.....

40k service on A4 1.9 PD 130 Sport. Completed by Aberdeen Volks Centre in Kingswells.

Quoted £270 to perform 40k service and brake fluid change

Ended up costing just shy of £540 as it needed the following

Front bumper removed/replaced to fit 2 new parking sensors. Diagnostic work found 3rd one had failed!
New front disks and pads. Standard 288mm disks fitted. I may well remove these and fit 312mm disks at some point soon before they get too worn. Just need to get carriers and splash guards.

Overall it was a bit steep but much cheaper than Aberdeen Audi.

Discovered a month later that they'd overtightened the wheelnuts as I couldn't get the offside front off when I had a puncture. The removed them and gave me new wheelnuts.

I'll think carefully about using them again. Not sure if Audi dealers give special rates on cars over 4 years old. I think I heard that somewhere.

Sometimes I've heard that the Volkscentre is sometimes dearer than specialist cars. Hawco in Peterhead are often recommended, I've used them in Elgin sometimes in the past. Not sure where I'll put my current A4

Taking mine to Stafford Audi on Sat for a 10K service for £79 all in.
Heard really good reports on this forum about them. (see my recent posts).

Taking mine there (stafford Audi) on Thursday. Have been quoted £210 for a Gold Service. I have a 3 litre V6 Cab due for its first service. Have had a few quotes (my local dealer Bexley Audi quoted £460) and have decided to drive up despite the fact I live in London.

Glad to hear you have good things to say about them. This is one of the reasons I am prepared to make the trip. I have seen a number of positive comments about them on the forums. Will report back once it's done.

Just got back. Had the Gold service which cost me £210 as quoted for my 3 litre cab. Few other bits and bobs were pointed out by them and they offered to discount the labour charges to do the extra work. Top poeple and top service all round.....highly recommended!:applaus:

My cars got just over 110000 miles and service is due about 115k what should be done on this?

Cambelt was changed at about 70k!!

Had the cambelt tensioners & waterpump changed on my 2003 48K mile 2.5TDi Quattro Sport on 26th Jan 09. Preston Audi originally quoted me £600 for the job (cough ! Splutter!) , plus extra for the water pump. Various specialists in the Preston, Lancs, area quoted me about £450 for the belt & pump.

Anyways Stafford Audi (who advertise on e-bay) quote £395 + £65 for the waterpump.....and I was quite prepared to drive to Stafford to get the job done !

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AUDI-CAMBELT-...14&_trkparms=72:1683|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318

.....anyways presented the Stafford Audi e-bay advert to Preston Audi and they matched the Stafford Audi price ! Best thing about Audi doing the job is that I get a 2 year warranty on the job !

So, I would just like to say

A BIG THANK YOU TO STAFFORD AUDI !!!!!

Guys, just been quoted £368 for a minor service on my 2005 3.0 Tdi, which seemed expensive! Having read this thread I'm going to phone Stoke.

Last summer a local garage that I trust serviced my 02 2.5 Tdi, oil, belts, tensioners, pullies, water pump and a replacement alternator (supply and fit) cost £700 which I didn't think was too bad, alternator was abot £250.

My car is booked in for its 80,000 mile service on Monday at my local indi (a mate), cost £140. I am swapping away from the long-life service to normal on his recommendation.

Had it done yesterday, full service with all new filters & oil etc and complete with new rear brake pads it came to £175. Feels even better to drive now :jump:

That's a bargin .Was this main dealer??The Audi web page states service is £199

Nice to have mates who care.Well done:o.k:

I need to get mine done cambelt, water pump ,long life service bf, stafford audi have quoted me £780 all in

audi specialist lion garage in leicester £580 all in

leicester audi cambelt £726,water pump £120, bf £50,long life service £335 total £1231 taking the f*ck ****

In response to Miniredcooper's post, has anybody got any other comments on Audi's new fixed service prices? Do they do a lighter weight job for these?

I had mine serviced at Cardiff Audi 5 times and it has been around £300, or £400 if you have the break fluid changed.

Hi Davestripe - the local dealer says no different a job - just adopting a similar stance to the BMW reductions offered to cars over 3 years old. So not a cheapy job - just what we've all been paying through the nose for - for less.

anyone know of any good garage's in west sussex, audi or good indy?

Can anyone tell me what a interim service consists of??

For my A4 3.0 TDI Audi told me the £368 interim service included oil and oil filter - presumably "101 point check" as well.

Seems a little steep to me!

Chris

Just booket my 2.4 v6 in with audi leicester to have the cambelt, long life srr, water pump, bf change costting me £695  F**ket up on the qoute

audi have now introduced a couple of service packs to get customers back into the dealers, one being the 5 year offer fixed prices, depending on engine size the price is either higher or lower to cover the additional sparkplugs or extra oil etc... and the segment 2 servicing which is either £99 or £199 depending wether you want a small or big service. quite a good deal to get customers back into the main dealer and at affordable prices. Plus you get the stamp! brings prices more in line with fred in the shed prices.

p.s. segment two is over three year old cars and neither deals cover the rs models!

Had my free MOT yesterday, very pleased with the service (my first time at an Audi main dealer) - thank you Sytner Derby.

Chris

Took my mint 2003 Audi A4 1.9 tdi Avant to Manchester Audi for free M.O.T. and they failed it on a windscreen wiper and also said one of the headlamps was out of line, ********!

hmm!! interesting reading.

We recently picked up an S4 cabrio from Ingrams Audi in Ayr (Scotland) so it was given its 50,000 mile service at 46500 miles.... so the service was on the house.

HOWEVER I am surprised to not see any of you mention specialist garages so would like to recommend 2 please:

Firstly Unit 20 IN CHESTER
http://www.unit20.org/

I have been to "Grizz" a few times now with the B5 RS4 for its timing belt service, etc, Martin (Grizz) and Lee are highly trained and really know what they're doing and with a labour rate of £45 per hour (ish) its no brainer compared to dealer prices.

Secondly MRC IN BANBURY

http://www.mrctuning.com/

Also highly recommended on the RS246.com and SRSAUDI.COM forums

£700 from Glasgow Audi !!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats just blatant pi** taking and must be at least £100 per hour labour rates!!!!!

I now take the RS4 and S4 down to Chester for its big servicing jobs. Its definately worth the drive down.

My 2004 S4 Cab with 19k needs a service so gave my local Audi main dealers a call, Amersham and Slough. Asked for a basic service

Amersham wanted £425 plus they say the spark plugs will need doing for another £250

Slough initially quoted £199 due to mileage, then when phoning to book in wanted £500+ (don't remember exactly as I was gob smacked). When I said an independant was offering for £199 they said they would match it but that would only be to change the oil and filter - no checks what so ever.

Cannot understand how it would cost £500 to change oil and a filter?

Having been very disappointed with the mail dealers gave Fontain a call as they are just down the road from my office... even though on their website they are offering £199 V8 basic service... was advised it would be £300, when I mentioned the web price - response was that has expired (no expiry date listed) then would price match...but could not include the pollen filters... hmmm something fishy here!

Finally after much searching and an add on here I called VagTech... £184.50 all in... amazing, booked in for later in the month.

(Seems the multi-millionaire previous owner who refused to have the car serviced at Audi as they were greedy, seems to have been on to something!)

Stafford Audi gets my vote. Mine went in about 3 weeks ago and couldn't fault them. They were £200 cheaper than Coventry Audi!!!!

Check there deals on ebay. Put in Audi Service and it should bring them up.

Just got back from having the car serviced @ VagTech. Now this is a place I would recommend, a breath of fresh air compared to main dealers and most specialists I have dealt with!

Extremely helpful, friendly, knowledgable and honest! And the coffee wasn't bad either. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble.

Will certainly use again.

25th Sept 2009 : OK....my service indicator is now telling me I have 1000 miles or 363 days before I get car serviced.....
Its a Audi 2.5 TDi Q Sport Avant thats now done 57K miles........apparently its the "small service" where they change the oil, oil filter, pollen filter and give the car a good check out (tyres, drive chain, axles, all the suspension).....now Preston Audi have quoted me today £280 (sounds an awful lot of cash for basically b*gger all), whereas Volkservice in Blackpool (an excellent Independant garage with mainly ex VW/Audi mechanics) will do the job for £155 all in .......

So question is do I now end my 5.5 year old cars FASH or not and will it be detrimental when I sell the car in say 2 years time.....

Flipping 'eck...have just seen Stafford Audi offering to do the SAME service for £99 + VAT on e-bay !!!!!.....think I will call the Service Manager at Stafford Audi to confirm and then call same manager at Preston Audi and ask what the **** are they doing !!!!
