Hello,

Could someone in the know explain how long life servicing works?

I read on another thread that the car can ask for an oil change and shortly after this an inspection.

Is this the norm? Sounds a real pain.

I have just asked the dealer to make sure my car is on long life.

So advise appreciated but please don't give me advice on changing my oil every 5k miles etc. The car will have an easy life pottering along the motorway. Thanks

Long Life servicing was innitially set up to keep fleet sale costs down. The ecu is set up to check on the driving conditions over a set period of time and it calculates at what interval the oil needs replacing.
Fixed servicing is the best option in my opinion. It has the ecu servicing set at twelve months regardless of the mileage you have covered...Far better to replace the oil every twelve months regardless how hard or soft you have driven the engine...:friends:
