Square setup and tyre choice - hot climate

Hi all, I'm ready for a tyre change as the stock Pzero R02 are done. I'm wanting to go with a square setup to give me the option of rotating the wheels. Also where I live, bends are a rarity and the climate is always around 25 plus.

My question is, what would you suggest is a good tyre for warmer climates that experiences little to no rain?

Also going to the square setup will mean I need to change the alloys I believe yet as far as I'm aware there are issues with clearance of the front breaks, can anyone give me the numbers for the clearance that would work?

You don’t need to change the alloys. Quite a few I know run MICHELIN PS4s, 245/35/19. They will fit fine on the stock 8.5& 8” wheels, no clearance issues.

From what I've read, the wider front tyre reduces understeer, and I have to say I've been really impressed with the turn in on the FL but nowhere near tested the full cornering capability as there are little corners here where I am, let alone country roads as there are back in yorkshire.

That's great to know that I don't need to change the alloys. I was under the impression the front alloys were wider and only accepted a wider tyre too. Thanks for the information. THe Michelin PS4s are a good summer tyre?

Just found this from a previous thread regarding the PS4s from what Michellin say. It seems as though traction issues occur with the traction control light kicking in constantly.

The R01/R02 marking sadly means the tyres are NOT THE SAME SIZE as a standard tyre in this instance.
The car is 4wd/Quattro, meaning it is very sensitive to it’s fitment in this case

We have a few examples where Pilot Super Sport/Pilot Sport 4S have been fitted and caused mechanical issues with the car, no damage, but the vehicle doesn’t drive as it should
These issues have been rectified upon returning to the standard specification of tyre R01/R02

There is NO technical issue with our products. It’s simply that the standard market tyres don’t work on this specialist vehicle and we do not make the appropriate tyre

The technical team in Clermont are aware, and we have asked for the Michelin.co.uk fitment advice to reflect these

Therefore if you are asked by a dealer as to the suitability of our products for this car, at this point we cannot recommend a product from our range
It seems apparent that the advice in the Audi handbook/manual in the car, isn’t being read/followed. We will as always deal with any specific issues arising if the customers fit our product

I’m running 255 front & 235 rear MPS4s with no TC or other issues what so ever! These are the best tyres around atm and definitely recommend them.

I run 235/35 MPS4S on a square setup and they're awesome. Did have some teething issues (see here) but on the whole I would recommend them over the Pirelli's.

So you decided to stick with the staggered setup. Are the 255 Michelin considerably wider than the pirelli's 255? And you've had no traction issues, which is great.

Hey Up.... slightly off topic, but where in Yorkshire are you from and where are you now? I am originally from the Wakefield/Ossett area and now live in Dublin. I have also lived in the States and the Caribbean....

Goodyear Supersport Eagle 235 /35 /19 all round.

No issues here and a great tyre.

Decided after speaking with GY technical to ditch the front 255.

It’s nice to try something ‘different’
