Start stop won't turn off

Hi.

I have a 2014 A3 2.0TDI with start/stop and I used to be able to turn it off from the switch on the dashboard (the amber light would come on to indicate it was disabled) but recently, I can't get the switch to disable the start/stop system. When you press the button nothing happens at all and the light doesn't come on. the Start/stop is still active.

The actual start/stop works as it should and doesn't report any errors on the dashboard. I've tried another switch unit in the car and that doesn't work either. I've not had any work done on the car recently but I noticed this a couple of weeks ago and I drive it daily.

Has anyone seen this before or have any ideas of what it could be before I take it to a specialist?

That's an interesting one as the first thing I was going to say was the switch but you say you have already tested this by swapping out the switch unit. I'd say get a full VCDS scan if you know anyone locally and see if there are any errors, clear any faults, test and re-scan. Might be a module and/or wiring issue but will require further diagnostics to find the root cause.

First for me but if you have tried another switch panel, assuming that’s not faulty, then I would suggest faulty wiring.
