Hello, i am looking forward in buying an audi a4 b7 2.0tdi bpw, the automatic, and i`ve encountered something, steam/white smoke coming from the dipstick, i`ve seen 2 cars, one with less smoke but the other one could be easily seen, the one with less smoke was a cold start and the other ran for 10 minutes before i`ve seen it. My questions is if that`s something i should worry, and what causes it, even if it is normal on this engines after 200k km.
My dad`s car is a `99 passat b5 1.9 tdi 450k km and it never leaked oil, or sprayed oil, nor had smoke coming from the dipstick even with cold or hot engine, this is why we thought it might be a problem.
the steam looks like in this video, but only from the dipstick, not from the oil gauge, and not that much
