Steering column lock fault - car not starting

Hi, I have an Audi A4 (B9) 2016 model and recently got "Steering: fault. Please stop vehicle" error come up on the dashboard out of the blue after a drive and now the car won't start or even turn the ignition on. There were no signs of any issues with steering before the vehicle had been used earlier in the day. The electronic hand brake is now stuck as the ignition wont switch on and can't move the car at all and face the prospect of getting it towed.

OBDeleven scan shows static fault code P160A00 with the 2B steering column lock module but doesn't seem to be able to clear it. I've done some searching but doesn't seem to be common. Does anyone have any tips or have come across this problem before? Can this be fixed locally or does it need to go back to Audi?
