Hello!
Had the 05 a3 2.0tdi up on the ramp last night looking for a boost leak, because the car when accelerating fairly lightly will hesitate for a split second and you can hear the air escaping so to speak, so had a look under and all pipes seem fine no splits, then a friend who's a mechanic reckons it could be the turbo on its way out, there was a lot of sh*t on the tubes from the intercooler I think it was where all the gunk gathers at the lowest point, any one had similar syptoms? Also how should the turbo actuator move? It only would move an inch or so once, should it move back and forth?

Cheers!

Also when accelerating hard and lifting off you can hear a flutter which for a diesel I've heard is not good

its common m8 that the pipes gather oil round there its mainly down to the design of the pipes and how the connect to the intercooler .
I use to use thick ties wraps to clamp the seal together better but have now uprated my intercooler to a S3 1 which uses jubilee clips .
