Strut inserts?

what is a strut insert, What does it do? If i'm fixing new shocks do i need these?

Also anyone heard of or know anything about gossow coilovers?

afaik inserts are an alternative to replacement. This was offered as an option on my 911 with the Boge dampers.

never seen an insert though so I dont know how you do it.

The insert is the telescopic damper inside your macpherson strut

On some cars you change the inside of the strut( insert) to replace the shocks as the strut would be too expensive to change otherwise.

On the A4 the shocks remove easily without fuss, no need to use inserts at all
