Sump gasket

Just been to Audi for a sump gasket and they tell me there isnt one, i need to buy some silicone sealer for £20
Hmmm is this right and if so, can i buy any silicone sealer?

its not just any silicone sealer m8 but yeah it doesnt have a gasket you can buy other brands of gasket sealer like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=170674954795

if you use silicone sealer which isnt oil resistant gasket sealer then eventually it will break down and pieces may block the oil pump...

Im assuming the same sealer for head gaskets will do fine

think the correct stuff is called RTV !! somebody may beable to back that up though

Going to check the local parts/spares shop for some of that as i cant wait the 4/6 working days

Im guessing that to clean the sump and pipe should be straight forward

Ive just done a little research on how to remove the sump
Does not sound like an easy task at all. Have to unbolt engine mounts and subframe

Thinking of giving this a miss now and pray that the pickup pipe is ok
(Just spent £10 on gasket sealer too!!)

I use Loctite 5910.
