how many cars does that do? Would think at £100+ worth of grease and cleaners will do quite a few cars.

If your a dealer or independent then yes a worthwhile investment.

The home mechanic either has to bear the cost or take it somewhere.

My invoice didn’t list any part numbers - just labour
Cleaners, pastes and similar are considered shop supplies in my neck of the woods. A part no.is applicable to packaged items not portions of.

My Audi dealer is great and I would not want to lose a full Audi history for the sake of very little cash savings.

Not having a pop at you here, if you are happy with them that's great and I'm not going to say you should not use them. But Audi quoted me £452 for my A5 2nd service, I had the same thing done by a specialist using genuine parts for £199...I'd say that's more than a little saving. (Used specialist for the 3rd one as well), it goes on the same system that the main dealership uses! This is my service record from the Audi app that I can show anyone when I come to sell the car, drop the arrow and it shows additional work as well, such as brake fluid change and pollen filter etc.:

When I had the S3 Audi serviced that, when I came to sell I thought "Bought and serviced by Audi, buying another Audi off them, I'll get a good px price", they quoted me the lowest price from anyone! Sold it to a specialist sports car dealer for £1,500 more than Audi had offered. He said a main dealer service history doesn't make a difference to the price he pays, as long as it's been serviced as and when it should that's all he looks for.

As for warranty, I bought the extended warranty on mine last year, covered myself by asking if I can still use the specialist etc. and this was the reply:

A tube of Krytox lubricant from VW is 1/2" x 4" long and cost me $35CDN. What are you talking about?

If that is correct then I’m fine. They changed the sunroof in February 2019 and if it’s every 2 years or every 40,000 miles it’s under both.

But they told me 20k miles. Additionally I agree that they changed the whole mechanism and it wasn’t sorted.

In all honesty I’m not looking for them to swap the whole thing again - it’s almost 3 years and I’ll probably trade it in soon - all I was asking was that they grease it and check it and if an obvious part was faulty replace it. But not the whole mechanism.
Sorry to dig up an old thread but did you ever get this resolved? My S5 went into Audi on Monday due to a rattling and creaking pan roof and they are saying it’s related to a seal that has failed on the car (it’s lifting slightly) and they want £460 in parts and labour to replace it as it’s not covered under Audi used approved warranty.

I’ve never had a panroof service and it’s never been mentioned to me. I was told all panroof are excluded from warranty’s and seals are the same. It went in to the dealer in November about the same issue whilst under manufacturers warranty which would’ve covered it apparently but as they are saying as they couldn’t find an issue at the time I can’t put in a retrospective claim even though it was logged as a ‘concern’ on the service sheet.

Pano roof service is every 2 years so did they reject warranty on the basis of ‘not covered’ or ‘not serviced according to recommended schedule’?

Service schedule is not widely advertised as required but doesn’t get the airtime that haldex service does.

My pano roof creaked when reversing over uneven surfaces but was otherwise fine until my 2-year service when it juddered during slide opening immediately afterwards. Two further visits and they used something that looks just like moly grease as opposed to Kytox/PTFE grease.

Despite the weight raising the car’s centre of gravity, creaks & issues, and the fact it’s a big sunroof but not really panoramic, would I have pano roof again? Every time.

Definitely not rejected on the grounds of it not being serviced, it states in the T&C’s that sunroof assemblies and trims are exempt from the used approved warranty.

I’ve only had the car just over 6 months so haven’t had it serviced before but I did ask the service dept if there was any service schedule for it and they said no.

It’s currently with Audi UK as I’m not happy about it being declined under warranty seeing as the seal is so important to stopping water leaking into the car. They are claiming the issue wasn’t present in November despite the same issue being reported then and it being logged as a concern. They are saying as they investigated and found nothing their duty was fulfilled :blahblah1: Seems like best case scenario is agree some sort of good will gesture with the dealer, although still frustrating.
