Talk me out of buying a FL RS3

Good morning
Pre facelift driver but have spotted something that I really really like the look of.

Things putting me off

- New model 8Y to proliferate the market next year further eroding residuals of current 8V facelift model

- Sale prices are almost £10k above trade value on WBAC

- Residual values in 2022

Things making me want to pull the trigger

- you only live once

Whats your thoughts? Is anyone else considering a purchase at this moment in time?

Do you have disposible income or will it be financed? What will be the impact on your financial status? Bear in mind that the economy, apart from a few sectors of industry, is pretty f**ked at the moment and it will only get worse before it gets better. Also bear in mind that if you intend to finance, interest rates are going up.

I personally prefer older cars (I like tinkering) and don't tend to use finance if I can avoid it.

Prices are high at the moment.

Had my FL 4 years and tomorrow it goes to pastures new

Will miss it a lot, but decided to move it on while prices were good.

What you doing with all your goodies

I nearly pulled the trigger several times going from my 2016 RS3 to a 2017/18/19 RS3 - for me the upgrade was never worth the extra ££££, particularly when looking at the OPF RS3 (~68 plate and onwards IIRC) which lacked depth of exhaust note and felt much less characterful.

What are you hoping to gain from the upgrade?

Easier to sell as a Modified car.
I wouldn’t have wanted anyone buying that as a ‘standard’ car.
