Much has be said ,on reviews of the new A4 by various journalists etc regarding the styling of the latest car. Some have complained on its lack of flair etc.
However i have always found it very very sleek and well balanced, and would not have placed an order for one had it changed too much.I think its dam near perfect.
The competitors from BMW and Mercedes Benz tried to embellish and tinker with some of their earlier beautiful cars and in my opinion have finished up with shapes that are neither cohesive or elegant. They suffer from multiple creases and unbalanced surfaces (just look at the 3 series carefully )
This is what happens when you try to "improve"something by tinkering and adding to what was probably perfect on its first attempt.
Audi has very carefully honed the A4 ,and i think its been very successful.Customers buy it because they like its profile and design etc.
Around 41 years ago my uncle bought an NSU RO80 He had it for years until he passed away a few years back.It was sold to a specialist .It was such a beautiful car.despite its engine reliability issues ( it was just not developed enough before production)was years ahead of the competition.
It was realised in the late sixties, just have a look online at what the UK and other countries had to offer back then................
Anyway have a look at the two pics below, there is a clear link to these two beautiful cars in their design and styling.remember Audi ,back in the day bought out NSU.
The A4 a modern day Ro80.
