Hi all,

First time on the forum btw. Firstly apologize for my reasonable poor english (every day is a learning day).
I just want to share with you all the frustration that I have right now.

Yesterday I bought a 2005 A3 3.2 quattro with DSG, the most powerful car I ever drove (really!). I came from Portugal last September to work here in the Midlands for JLR, and I finally had the opportunity to buy one car with an very uncommon engine from where I come from (too expensive) and just a few can afford it there, so it was like a childhood dream for me :)

Today I had a opportunity to truly test the machine, so I went to through the country road to Warwick with my girlfriend. I was very happy on those 30 miles to the destination but after a while it became a nightmare :( , the engine just went down. The Traction control light on the cluster switched on every time I started the engine and after 2 seconds it revved down until the engine cut off.
I realized as well that the DSG letter on the dash were flashing and the semi automatic didn´t work. Other thing that I realized is that the car on neutral was revving at 600rpm.

The car went straight to the dealer where I bought from in B´gham (independent dealer) and they took it to the mechanic. I don´t have a clue what it might be, maybe you have any??

So that was my Saturday, how about your´s??

Happy days!
Greets from B´gham!

Sorry to hear than and hope you get it fixed soon!

I've a 3.2 but manual, what I'm guessing it maybe to do with Mechatronics Unit, before I go for manual I searched a lot and a few of dealers told me about this problem, and it's very expensive...

If you have warranty from this independent dealer then you're covered, and if they couldn't fix it then just return it for refund and go for manual!!!

What's the mileage by the way?

It has 105000, it's a little bit I know :) although it looks very nice, the previous owner had treat it well.
It now goes to a gearbox specialist which gives 12months warranty on the dsg.
