Hi, I appreciate any advice here.

As a long term VAG fan, I’ understand a general consensus that the OEM pump on these engines is week, especially if the car is mapped as mine is. I have a slight leak and the suspected problem is the thermostat housing.
Audi want over £1000 for this job, no mention of the water pump just the thermostat on the quote. Fair enough its not broke.
Is it still wise to replace your water pump for the stronger mental fins one at the same time as replacing the thermostat? Or is it stronger now?
I have facelift 2016 S3 not sure if that matters?
Can anyone recommend where to buy both parts please if needed.
Thank you

Have Audi improved the thermostat housing or is it still a problem? if they have improved it when did they do it or is it a problem we should all be aware of?

Hey I appreciate any advice

am having a little problems with my s3 fl no heating coming from vents inside also some pipes are hot and some are cold. So decided to strip her down and remove the water pump/thermostat housing, toke the thermostat out and it looks like this pic, looks open would appreciated any advice to my knowledge she should be closed right now and open when the temperature gets up

Great thanks for getting back to me.
So I replaced thermostat an water pump still same issue no hot air in the cabin also coolant pipes on the right had side haven’t got any water in them :/ just past the thermostat/ water pump housing. Does the thermostat needs to be coded.

also I had this code popping up P2681 coolant bypass valve actuation open circuit.

P16C600 additional cooling medium pump dry running

can any of those 2 codes above Couse overhetting/ no hot air

Can anyone tell me what is this pipe ? As no part number on it. And my one broke

Hi there i know its an old thread but i have an audi s3 2017 facelift. I too have the same code showing P2681 coolant bypass valve actuation open circuit. My cars in the garage and having a new thermostat housing and water pump done in the morning. I was wondering if you ever got around to fixing this code and if yes what was it?

thanks
