Time to protect your belongings... including your car keys!

About time, although in all honesty I leave my keys by the front door. If someones coming for the car, don't like the prospect when I'm out or away the idea of a group of burglars coming up the stairs to my wife or baby. Rather they took what they wanted and ******** off and I claim off insurance over causing fear to the wife or baby.

New change of law might be good to protect your property but wouldn't surprise me now if thieves come now tooled up more as well.

That said the wife can be pretty nutty she'd probably push me out the way and start whacking out some crazy Mortal Kombat style fatality moves with kitchen knives on the burglars.

i allway thought it was only eligable to attack a burgler when he is on the 1st floor if attacked on the ground floor you will get prosicuted as the burgler will be in contact with you so you are able to use resonable force to defend yourself.

although if this is still the case kick F**k out of them then drag them upstairs and wait for the police to come lol, burglers beware i have a nice new torque wrench and a mahoosive 32mm spanner at the side of my bed hehe not had time to put them in me tool box yet.

Well Ken said "We will make it quite clear you can hit a burglar with a poker if he's in your house and you have a perfect defence when you do so."

Feeling lucky punk...

they fire bb's - but they still hurt - especially in the face...

This is great news. Now I can drag people that I don't like into my house, stab them, claim they were burgling my house, and get off scott free.

Ohhhhh I have a few samurai swords.... Wonder if I should learn to use them to protect the RS's and A3 :)

on more a serious note, this is actually true.

i work in the legal sector, and most cases in England are over-drawn or exaggerated. We are known as the "claimant" and "conniving" society as we use and abuse the law and its loopholes.

But im actually happy overall by this Bill, hope its enacted soon - poor ken has had a bit of stick recently (rightfully) so its time he actually did something good!

remember that old dude that shot the lad breaking into his farm with a shotgun.? Is he still on HM all inclusive? If so he should be released right ??

Should of been given a medal IMO

remember the old boy sitting in his shed with a shotgun waiting for the thieving **** to break in again?Blew the ******** shoulder off.Same dude was caught again.they dont learn.Best to off em and use them as fertilizer.Or if theyre fat ****s candles.
On a serious note though, when this law is in force, they will all come properly tooled up.I suggest the placement of suitable maiming weapons around the home as soon as.

If I may add some clarity to this before you all go out killing burglars! You have a power under common law to use 'reasonable force' to protect yourself, another person or property. What is reasonable force will be decided by a judge based upon the circumstances surrounding the situation. so if you are a 6'2" male built like a brick sh1t house and your burglar is a 5'6" skinny crack head it may be reasonable to give him a slap and hold onto him until the law arrives but not reasonable to beat him unconscious and then tie him up and call police. Also, it would never be count as reasonable to use force of any kind if said burglar were trying to flee as in this situation the threat is over and you have pursued and assaulted him.
The best way to stop a burglar is to get a ****** big dog! I have a German Shepherd and she has seen off two potential burglars who came over the back fence took one look at her running towards them and went straight back over it....and this was in broad daylight the cheeky gits!

People are still going to get in trouble with the law after the change. Too many grey areas and too open to abuse and lies about what REALLY happened when a burglar ends up with his head caved in.

Personally I think it should be straight forward.... enter someone's house to nick their stuff and you're fair game.
All this stuff about whether or not there is a real threat... I'm sorry but during the shock of seeing a stranger in your property not many people are going to be able weigh up how much of a threat the person is posing and then calculating how they should react, all within a few seconds.

As for the homeowning 6"2 MMA expert Vs 5"6 thieving crack fiend.... yes the big guy should still be able to smash the little smack head into tiny pieces, with no holding back. These little buggers are the worse when it comes to carrying a weapon, as they need something to compensate for their lack of physical strength. Give them just a slap and there's a good chance you'll wake up (or worse - won't wake up) with a blade lodged in your neck.

And all this talk about having to use "reasonable" force against burglars.... Is it "reasonable" for them to enter our properties to steal our gear and as a result steal ours and our family's sense of safety, and even life?? Nope.
So why should we still have to be reasonable?
A lot of these burglars enter our houses with the intention of doing WHATEVER they have to do to MAKE SURE they get something, so we should be able to do WHATEVER we have to do to MAKE SURE we protect ourselves and our families, leaving nothing to chance.

Yep, as far as I am concerned they give up their human rights as soon as they break the law. Get caught inside my property without permission and your evening is going to end very badly, may even involve a chalk outline.
As for what the law thinks? The police in this country are controlled by a socialist government, and the government has this idea that they can protect you, even though 999 is a government sponsored dial a prayer. They are not going to be there when crack head toerag enters your property with bad intentions, and previously mentioned toerag is not going to stadn their patiently while you call the police and wait for them to arrive.
I am not advocating taking the law into your own hands, but you have got to protect yourself and your family, and face the repercussions that the law decide afterwards.
There is an old saying, better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Agreed, all rights to your human rights will be surrendered the minute you break into my house. I might put a sign up, just so they're clear.

Nope. He shot the bloke in the back whilst he was atempting to get away. Ken says no!

I can see that to be honest, rules of engagement i guess, if you are running away with your back turn your no longer a threat... Should of put two in him and his sh1t rat mate!

I'm ok though iv got two black lab's that'll lick em so clean they'd no longer have a habit;)

Easy, shoot them in the leg, then roll them over before the finishing shot......
