So my A3 2.0 TDI is ready for its cam belt change due to it being on 95K miles. I have 2 questions before I dive into this task.

can I use an engine support bar for only one side of the engine ie one of the hooks on the time belt side when removing the engine mount? I ask this as on my engine the hooks are offset from each other. Therefore it would require a more expensive support beam to reach both hooks.
Also could I use a contitech timing belt kit as opposed to a VAG one as I’ve got a price of £160 for contitech but £260 for VAG Engine Team one which is a conti belt?

thanks in advance for any help

Continental, Gates and Dayco are all excellent quality timing bellts, which I would use without hesitation. Original Audi parts can be prohibitively expensive but there are some Audi Dealerships selling original parts competitively priced on eBay: huntingdonaudi and genuine.audi.parts are 2 sellers worth looking at.
