Hi all

Well my 1.9tdi quattro sport has just hit 120k and still drives like it has half that mileage. Had to replace clutch and flywheel after remapping at 109k as clutch went soon after, glad i did it though as transformed the driveability of the car.

Unfortunately i can no longer delay the dreaded and costly timing belt replacement. Am considering buying the recommended contiTech timing belt kit from eurocarparts including water pump etc. just wondering if anyone can recomend or should i just pay the premium at an Audi garage?

Plan to get a local indy to do the belt replacement but thought it would be cheaper to buy parts direct.

Would apreciate your input as can get a full kit for £75 instead of £200ish.

Midland vw done mine for £270 all in... They did advise me to fir belt tensioner so I did think over all cost was £350... I'm sure other vw specialist can match that price.. Consider it keeps your engine running I don't think £300 ish quid is much for what you get lol

Contitech make the OE belts for VW. I would advise to get someone else to do it and like has been said £300 is a good price for it.

Also get a price of an Indy and then ask main stealer for price match

I did mine not so long back I got all the parts from eurocarparts cam belt kit with all tensioner's water pump all fluids brake oil and coolant also got a new stat and temp sensor while I was at it and stat housing too total cost for parts was just over 250

I did all the work myself takes best part of 4 hours really easy to do

The only thing I would say is check which tensioner you have first as there is two and they supplied the wrong one at first

I think just the belt and water pump was about 140 so if you can get the labour for 200 or less its about the right price

All I will say is get someone who knows the cars and has the locking tools tip ex just won't do it
