Can anyone tell me how to safely lift off the plastic engine top cover of the 2.0L TDI 140 engine in my 2006 A3 Sportback? I have been told that you lift the sides and then slide it forwards (after first removing the dip-stick). I have tried this, but it just won't budge. What am I doing wrong? Just how much force can I use without breaking something important? Any advice much appreciated.

There is a securing nut at the back left, just lossen that off a bit, then lift up then pull too you.

yeh just the nut at the back then give it a yank and it comes off easy - don't worry you will not break it

Yo... finally got the damn thing off. Needed quite a pull, but it finally yielded to my enormous strength. Got to clean the innards, which was worrying me a bit. All looks OK. Thanks again guys. :weight_lift2:
