it's a bit of a PITA to get the shock out from the hub but it's not impossible Quick tips would be to whip the wheel off, jack up under the disc / lower arm to compress the spring, add in your spring compressors, leave the top 3 shock bolts in, then spread the gap in the hub and use a big hammer to persuade the shock out of the hub, then undo the top 3 shock bolts. There's a proper hub spreading tool you can buy, but I just use a chisel and a screwdriver haha
That method didnt work for me. All I done was undo the top mount bolt and the strut bolt and the ball joint so the hub wasnt connected to the wishbone and then the strut will come out fair easy then. I played around for ages with that method in the guide but the wheel bearing housing wouldnt drop enough to get the strut out.
