That’s matched up the same as what I was quoted £1770 incl vat.

What happens if it gets scuffed…? Another £1800 to remove and refit?

A respray is what, £500 say? So that’s £500 vs £3600 to get the paintwork fixed again after a scratch…?

What am I missing?

I like not having the chips in the first place, just personal preference. Also, if you’re matching something like Daytona then there will be more than the single panel sprayed to make sure it’s blended in so I imagine you’re really ambitious with £500. Probably a good three times that to fix a front bumper and bonnet at a guess, which is the same cost for me to get the whole front PPF’d.

Yeah I did. I genuinely like Daytona, although there are other colours I’d potentially have chosen over it if they’d been available. I had it on an A4 a few years ago and the flake in it is amazing.

I do think Daytona matches in well with the front grill - the grill has been a major talking point - but I think most of us are getting used to it now. Who knows it may work really well when we see one for real. Daytona could be considered a sleeper colour but I’d say it’s regarded as one of the RS colours and does suit RS models albeit I’d still probably go floret silver if it was available as I really liked that colour.

I’d do the same, my B9 S4 was Floret and it is a brilliant colour in the flesh.

I’m up on Aberdeen, so not as far from you as you’d think!

That’s exactly what I am going for, a full Gyeon treatment inside and out.

As do I. It’s almost got a subtle blue hint to it and think it looks great with the black accents.

Off topic…thread hijack alert…

My F60 JCW was ordered 4th July. Collection is on Saturday . Original estimate was w/c 4th Oct, so not too bad considering factories shut in the summer. Got all the spec I wanted (pano, wireless charging, HUD, Nav+, adaptive, comfort plus etc) but HK sound was off the configurator (and still is). Not that bothered tbh, but always option to get a Full Audison system installed that is OEM+

Looking forward to it
So if you squint really really hard it will look like a sportback :whistle2: :tearsofjoy:
After several communications with Audi finance via the sales guy my RS3 order has been placed
Great news ye 5 pot wannabe :thumbs up:.
A bit crap about the WBAC moron but at least you got a near enough result mate.

I prefer not having them too, that’s why I looked into PPF. I’m clearly missing the point you’re making?

If we say it’s x3 that at £1500. That’s still half of what PPF would cost to apply, remove, then reapply after damage?

In the last 7 years I got a chip on the bonnet, windscreen got one too (and was replaced) and chip on a wheel spoke led to white worm on my polished finish wheels.

Again I must be missing something… but I’m new to PPF so open to learning!

Xpel...is self healing stones will still mark it until you apply heat via for example a hair dryer or strong direct sunlight...Xpel is naturally hydrophobic and panels that are covered in xpel do not require paint correction......layman terms its a wonder bra against stonechips....great investment if your keeping the car for the full pcp duration of which l wil be doingl...well until the 8Y facelift comes oot lol

I think you’re missing the point because it’s just not something that appeals to you, and that’s totally fine!

Every one of my previous cars have had quite a lot of stone chips and scratches from things on the front, which it would protect against. Unless there’s serious damage then you just take a hair drier to it and warm it to allow it to self heal, so you don’t remove and replace.

Incidentally, I would recommend just grabbing a hairdryer and going at it yourself to remove, each panel will probably take 30 minutes or so. I unwrapped my entire S4 avant in 6 hours with plenty breaks (and cold weather which made it much more difficult than it should have been). Saves paying anyone to do such a simple task for you.

And I’ve seen enough cars repaired to know that you almost never get a perfect paint match and I know that would bug me forever! Hahaha.

You might have been able to afford to keep your TT longer if you had secured one

No I was missing the point as the ££ didn’t make sense… if it didn’t appeal I wouldn’t have got a quote, however, jassey explaining the above has helped a lot - it would take a lot more damage before it needed to be removed and reapply so that would help the £ side of things. All the stone chips would pretty much be prevented (/absorbed) and it would only be a car scuff or similar where it might need to be removed

The guy I got a quote from didn’t sell it very well (or couldn’t be bothered to explain) - I’ve never done PPF so is all very new.

Appreciate the feedback tho.

That’s sounds pretty good. You’ve done a better job of explaining it than the guy I got a quote from!

I was lining mine up for new car polish, PPF and then gtechniq csu and exo… but a few have recommended gyeon instead, just not sure who does it near to me (Suffolk)…

I’ve got another month or so to look into it though.

No worries, I’m glad that one of us could manage to explain the actual benefits! Hahaha. I was trying but obviously not doing very well.

It’s one of those things that’s almost as much personal preference as anything else I think. If someone doesn’t care that much about a few stone chips on their car while they own it, it’s not like it won’t sell as a result!

There is different brands of PPF prices and quality varies ...most good PPF installers use Xpel but even that has various types...prices going up etc etc you wont regret it if you go with it.....especially in such a fast car as the RS3 buy yourself a machine polishing kit as well....hint at the Mrs before Xmas....lol

I am a bit ocd but manage to maintain my car myself - with mine being murder spec I did think it would be worth taking that to the next level though… first considering ceramic coating then that escalated to full PPF (circa £4K!!) before finding a balance of partial PPF plus coating, which is what I’m thinking I will likely go for once I find somewhere decent/reliable to get it done.

Thanks for your feedback it is appreciated

I really need to research it more

I’ve got myself a DA and a well stocked supply of car cleaning stuff so do like to look after my cars, and have only had black cars so am well used to keeping on top of them too. Was just looking to take it to the next level for the rs3

Hi TTS was sold tonight...to WBAC never again will l use them av sold several car privately to others and l can honestly say they say WBAC are con men...initially he said my price had dropped by a £1000 l said no chance l have this email with the appointment and price ...to prove your wrong.he said prove it so l did ....a few taps on his laptop....a few minutes later oh yes it hasn't....dropped your right.....its only dropped £300 l was walking away at this point....he shouted me back okay we will split the difference....so l took the storage net and Audi ashtray with me....they weren't getting these...he then tried to charge me another £75 for the next day seytlement settlement charge fee l said no mate you've already pushed your luck too far.....with me...so after a heated discussion £150 less it was....this chaps demeanor left a lot to be desired tyre kicking licking fingers....then rubbing areas of the paintwork with the his digits ...that he thought where stonechip repairs l said I'd rather you didn't do that its still my car....nevertheless it's gone...
.

I had a great experience when I sold my civic Type R last year, got the full whack, no hassle. It’s like anywhere I suppose, only as good as the guy you’re dealing with.

I had the full front end on my 8v saloon done for £500. Proper job too but with a ‘cash discount’ mind you that was nardo so no doubt will go up with a metallic.
