Tracking our new RS3?

O/T why did they use an auto box this time as the DCT in previous cars was awesome? Also to new owners (just one chap it seems!) what is the auto box like?

TX.

Are you talking about the RS3? It’s still a 7 speed dual clutch job if so.

Unless I’m mistaken, but I’m 99.99% sure it is. I think someone actually commented on it saying the M cars and others are going to full autos and the RS is bucking the trend a bit by staying DCT.

Wonder what the LE distribution is between hatch and saloon… I know my mythos saloon LE is a 1 of 3… but I think the saloons are either less popular or have been delayed vs the hatches.

Sell it and do what...That's like someone saying to you Ah just get rid of your S3 it's caused you nothing but stress because it's been into Audi for over 2 months....but you always need a plan B and "another car if it's Necessary "not always easily done mate
Bank the best part of 15/20k that's what I'd sell it tomorrow and get a cheap run around and take it from there if I could make that sort of money .
Mate please if you know of anyone who wants my S3 let me know I'd sell it rite now with no plan B in place .

The BMW M135i also has a pure auto box apparently with 'rough' gear changes when you push it to make it feel like a STronic/DSG, I've been told its not very convincing

Also sounds like things have moved forward recently.

After weeks of no movement or build weeks moving back, they seem to be coming forward again.

That’s encouraging.

Wonder if that means they have had a batch of parts they’ve been waiting on that’s helping things…?

Yeah, I presume that’s what the reviewer was getting at. I’ve not been in one but have a friend with one so might ask her what she thinks about it. She might be biased though, driving fast BMWs for work whenever she’s on shift.

I was quite surprised when mine jumped W16 to W8 then W49, maybe due to the large number of RS3 cars getting ordered (which apparently has surprised them, UK twice as many as predicted) they are evening builds out with other models thus bring them forward...who knows?

How are these dealers getting these launch cars.
2 more appeared both not far from me.

I do wonder if there are backhanders going on.

That’s a significant jump!!!

Which is good….

Hopefully that’s a good sign that things are getting resolved and we will see more cars soon.

I’m away in gods country for Xmas but I bet mine will arrive whilst I am due to be in Scotland!!!!!!!

I have a F60 JCW, which has the same engine and presume 8 speed box the M135i. Not sure what the query is here but can honestly say it is certainly nowhere near as “ponderous” on changes like when slowing at roundabouts as previous A6 and Q5’s were which had the “s tronic” which appreciate is a step down from the other auto (name/acronym escapes me, and can’t be ***** to google it )

Easy to sell your S3 mate, obv. prices slightly down this time of year, but plenty will want a S3. Given all the hassle you have had with the seat etc, I would get shot now, if you aren’t bothered about a plan b or need something else now

My S4 was actually very good with the 8 speed ZF auto box, but you could tell that it was a full auto versus a DCT. Had a diesel DCT A5 as a loan car and the throttle response was significantly better. I know this could be down to software but the ZF never felt quite as sharp as the dual clutch boxes seem to be (to me).

Yes and no :) I really didnt want it until March as that's when the money I have lined up for it comes out of it's fixed rate, They did say they would keep it until March 1st but that was when its build week was 8, I'll probably have to have the conversation with them if it appears middle/end of Jan

I told the dealership when I ordered it that I 100% want it in sept next year so I can have money organised but then. They said it’s fine and they’d hold it as long as needed, but we’ll see what happens if it shows up 3 months before it’s being handed over.

Hopefully that just while things are crazy.

I have no issue with them selling ‘my’ car rather than sitting on it for ages waiting for me, as long as they have the same spec ready for me when it gets to the time I want to collect.

I wonder how much truth is in that? I know for certain from my trips to my local dealer that some new cars have been there in their travel protection for longer than that, I cant see anyone picking up a new car two weeks from either the new year or new reg?

Just hope and prey you never need any warranty work done mate they are useless

I got a call yesterday from Oldhams head of business telling me the part have been ordered for my seat
and it should be all done by the 3rd December that would take my car to 2 days shy of 7 weeks in the dealership on this occasion
and that's for a creaking/squeaky seat imagine if it was a big job :grimacing:

They have been terrible at getting back to us via email/phone over our issue
but now Jardine motors head office / Audi Uk are involved we are getting calls with updates
before hand it was always us phoning them .

Have you had any discount offered at all anywhere ?

I feel we should self regulate the dealers by starting a new ‘Dealer Review’ forum focusing on service/warranty experiences. At the end of the day we are Audi Sport customers we generate a lot of revenue and do not deserve to be treated like this. There’s power in numbers. Their products are good it’s a shame their recruitment team isn’t.

I have 3 Degrees across 2 totally different engineering disciplines and they forcefully told me a resonator delete can cause increased emissions AND a faulty battery. I felt that was a conclusion to warrant a technical discussion at the least, Audi Oldham did not. Switched to Stockport Audi for services after that, who are absolutely lovely people btw.

This was a couple of months after dealing with the same issue as yourself, with not being updated while they had my beloved car for much longer than anticipated with no updates and simply being told “we don’t know what’s going on” for weeks. Their excuse in the end was sorry the person dealing with your vehicle was on holiday here have a free teddy bear for your troubles.

Tip of an iceberg when it comes to Audi Oldham.

They obviously can shuffle cars to owners around if they have ordered enough 'dealer cars' to do this and alter the spec etc, but like happened to me when I asked to swap the seats to Dinamica my car had jumped 11 weeks forward and it wasnt possible to change

Reading this review of Oldham hasn’t helped reinforce opinion of them.

The ******* cheek of them ***. Make us hold out for months waiting on them dicking around and then they put those demands on timescales on us?!

Granted as soon as it lands I want the car but still, what utter bawbags.

I would say AT or Pistonheads, but funny enough eBay seems to do well (obv setting reserve price), or you go down the route you know about…WBAC, Motorway, Arnold Clark, Cazoo or independent Performance Audi Specialists etc etc.

Last couple cars I didn’t get much action from A/T and ended up selling via motorway for more than I was originally looking for

I think I will ask them to hold mine until March 1st as agreed, but I will also tell them that they must not use it as either a showroom car, or 'theres one around the back you can sit in' for prospective new customers, the last thing I want is a drivers seat with creases in the side bolster from people getting in and out of my car

There is a red saloon on AT actually. but as you say mostly Sport Backs :)

The plan B is what’s stopping me tbh. The only car I’d get if I sold it would be an R8 and funnily enough a friend is selling his 18 plate. Gonna be a tough decision this weekend

My Sportback Vorsprung in Mythos Black has apparently now been slotted for week 10.

Still currently with no 360 or Wireless charging.

So still worse spec than current launch editions for more money!

Makes perfect sense.

My dealer said keeping hold of them is never usually a problem but this is the new stance of Audi. However he did say this may change but gave me the heads up worse car scenario they can’t keep hold of it until the new reg in March.

All cars built well into the 2nd half 2022 will come without cameras and wireless charging

I would imagine there would be a certain amount of money deposited for the RS3 that would change their minds.

I cant see the scenario working when your car arrives at the dealer on say February 12th and they say you MUST have it by the 26th ?
