Hello everyone,

My vehicle (Audi TT 8S) is fitted with bi-xenon as standard. I bought the Kufatec upgrade kit (adapter cable + control unit module + coding dongle) and used Matrix headlights from a reputable specialist.

After several attempts at installation and calibration at Audi, the Matrix lights still do not work (the parking lights and low beams work, but the highbeams do not).

Kufatec tells me that I am the only TT owner who has a problem with this retrofit and that the many TT owners who have installed this kit are very satisfied and have no concerns.

Did either of you perform this retrofit with Kufatec’s kit?

Are you sure 1st the headlights do work fully have you tested on another car, module supports matrix, coding is correct, wiring all ok?

Wiring is ok (checked a million times), module supports matrix (address 09 is J519 cent. elect., HW 5Q0 937 084 CG), and headlights are said by the seller to have been operating great (I have no visual proof so I can’t be 100% sure, but he is very reputable).

Coding is a problem since the dongle did not finish its job every time I tried to use it, so the coding seems to have been partly made.

Kufatec says the dongle is not working because of an « adapter set » coding that is unique to the car and that could be missing in the headlights (even if Audi made a complete calibration). They say that when headlights are removed from a car, this unique coding has to be performed again to enable the good operation of the headlights and so the full coding by the dongle.

It is a bit technical, but the coding of the dongle (not complete?) is different from the coding of another TT coming with Matrix as standard:
- Address 09 is coded with a 6 in a long chain of 0 (that is 0000060000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000, whereas I saw a TT with Matrix as standard coded with only 0). Labels is 5Q0-937-08X-V2.clb (instead of DRV\5Q0-937-08X-V2.clb). A fault is found: 526359 - Control Module Incorrectly Coded
U1014 00 [009] - - [Steuergerät falsch codiert->Keine Anzeige]. It is not possible to change the 6 with a 0 with VCDS, the 6 always comes back.
- Address 55 Headlight Range is J745, HW 7P6 907 357 B, MxB ECU written H01 100 (instead of 001 100), coded 03EA08203E171A00 (instead of 03E202202B170200). No fault found.
- Address A5 Frt Sens. Drv. Assist (R242), labels 5Q0-980-653.clb (instead of DRV\5Q0-980-653.clb) is coded 01010401[...] instead of 01010400[...]. No fault found.

But the strangest thing occurred when Kufatec tried to fix the coding problem via TeamViewer:
- Before their intervention, module 55 was showing 6 submodules (1 & 2: Led Headlamp Powermodules Left/Right; 3 & 4: Left/Right Headlamp Power Output Stage; 5 & 6: Matrix Headlamp Powermodule 1 Left/Right). A fault was found:
5256725 - Rear Left Ride-Height Sensor
C1036 15 [137] - Open or Short to Plus.
- After their intervention, submodules 3 & 4 completely disappeared, and submodules 5 & 6 were renumbered 3 & 4. So there are only 4 submodules that can be detected by VCDS now. No fault found.

Is the explanation given by Kufatec possible? Because they are now asking me 715 euros more to try to fix the problem (by putting the « adapter set » coding that is unique to the car back into the headlights they said).

And I don’t understand why the coding (incomplete?) of the dongle is different from those of other TT with Matrix as standard. And why 2 submodules (Left/Right Headlamp Power Output Stage) disappeared from address 55 after their TeamViewer intervention.

Did you ever get it figured out? I have some Erwin documentation and am thinking about ordering a TTRS and also would like to do the matrix led retrofit.
I have some experience retrofitting dynamic headlights (not matrix but do auto high beam and turn with the steering wheel) it’s not easy to figure out haha, but it’s possible as long as no new modules are needed.

Anyways, let me know, I wouldn’t mind helping out if I can.

Ciao a tutti,

Partire friend...unfortunately I have the same problem identical to yours for months. have you solved in the end?
