TT dash swap issue

hey guys, in my project thread you can see that I'm doing a TT dash swap in my 2000 S3 APY. i have brought the car to an audi dealer to get the cluster to work with my car but they say this cluster is too new? I need to get one from an older car. I have the cluster out of a 2001 TT 1.8t.

Is there any way around this or am i left to find a 1998 till 2000 cluster? they all seem to be newer on ebay etc...

Where are you? im pretty sure this will work, and I am able to code it in a lot cheaper than audi!

Ah just read your from NZ, sorry cant help personally, but if you buy some skc retrieval tools, and vcds from NHN, you will be able to do this work yourself, probably still cheaper than the dealer
