Tyre inflater or air compressor?

Was looking at ring 800 series tyre inflated for around £65 but would I be better off with a compressor? I know very little about compressors...do they work straight out the box with tyre valve or is that extra ?

I would get 12v tyre inflator, for what you are paying for the inflator you are not going to get very good compressor.
