Seen a few s4's on the dealer websites which I like & are around 29-31k..what type of discounts can be had on used 13-14 reg s4's,I won't be doing finance

It depends what spec they have as if they are more desirable you are going to get a lower discount.

Mine was listed at £34k 2 years old, pretty much fully loaded spec, and I paid cash. I got £3.5k off, so as good as 10%. Get the prices of every one for sale in a 100mile radius from the dealer and print it off, take it with you as a bargaining tool. Try to go mid week when they have lower foot fall and towards the end of the month as they are more likely to bend to get the deal closed.

Most importantly don't be afraid to walk away if the deal isn't right.

Cheers mate, the problem is that they are all similar priced 30-31k with similiar spec

I'd still be going in with the intention of getting as close to 10% off as possible but being happy to settle for a bit less, you should be able to get 2k off. It's the price to change car, so they may be happy to give you a bit more for your trade in to balance it out. I'd be looking to get soke extras too like a discounted service plan etc....

It's their choice if they take your 30k or if another dealer does.

Don't ask, don't get :)

How about if I have a px
What's the best way to do it mate?

Depends on how much hassle you want. Best way for value is to sell your car privately and then by the new one cash. It's a pain though. Companies specialising in buying cars from you (we steal any car . Com) offer poor prices so don't bother. Personally I just px'd mine in at my audi dealer and they gave me the top book price that I was happy with (non audi too). It's a damn site easier too. All depends what you have and what they will give you for it, it's the difference in value between cars that's the important figure.

No harm going in and trying to do the deal, if the deal isn't right for you walk away. If the car is still there later then go back and try again....If it's not selling it's in your favour.

Get on to glasses guide or parkers online and value yours and the ones you want to buy too, also take the printouts with you and evidence of value.

Personally, depending on spec and miles, I think 30k for a 2 year old s4 is a fair price.

I had opposite to the above. I came from a Countryman to my A3 and Audi offered me £10200 for my 13 plate with 9k on the clock. WBAC offered £11800 and finally sold it to Evan Halshaws (who will guarantee to beat WBACs quote) for £12200. So for me a 2k difference from dealer to EHs!!
