Audi Q5 FY 2.0TDI Quattro Lane Assist Retrofit!

Buying a new dealer stock or indeed used car is always going to be a compromise exercise… basically you are never going to get everything you want unless you complete a factory order, and this is one of the reasons why companies like us exist, to fill the gaps!

This used Q5 was missing a feature which the new owner really wanted, Lane Assist:

"Lane Assist is a system intended to help the driver stay within the intended lane of travel using a camera mounted in front of the rear-view mirror to detect lane markings"

While this feature can actually be activated without installing a dedicated toggle switch, as long as you have the needed camera, its not something we offer as a driver must be in control of their vehicle all the time. Some "coders" will just activate and then tell you the feature can be turned off by pressing the vehicles traction control button, not something we would suggest as 1) you would be turning off a safety system and 2) you would need to take your eyes off the road in order to see the button in question.

VAG Car Coding™ Limited is not just about retrofits and coding, we are also an authorised independent repairer.

This Audi R8 V10 Plus was off the road with windscreen wiper issues. This vehicle is part of the @adksupreme rental fleet and it being off the road = loss of earnings. We were initially contacted to code in a replacement wiper motor which was replaced by a mechanic who was unable to perform the coding himself but on further investigation we found the issue to be due to a faulty wire! Swipe left to the 4th photo where you will see that the shielding of the Purple / Brown wire has been compromised, allowing moisture ingress and ultimately the copper wire inside has corroded.

A replacement instrument cluster needed as the original unit had a few LEDs which failed.

The owner sourced a used replacement and tried to replace himself but found out very fast that 1) you need OEM tools to code and 2) he had lost his ABS coding. Not a problem for VAG Car Coding™ Limited!

*Due to more stringent security requirements, the service process for installing used immobiliser and security related control units has changed. From the 1st February 2021 approval from AUDI AG is needed to install any used immobiliser and security related control units, a process which can take up to 48 hours to complete. As a result the use of used parts cannot be guaranteed.

**When replacing or reprogramming engine control units, immobilisers (separate units or combination instruments or similar), keys, and lock sets, the proofs of Personal Identification (Passport, Driving licence, Utility Bill etc) and the vehicle registration document / Insurance Document must be submitted by the customer and entered by the Independent Repairer in the Volkswagen record sheet. For the protection of the customer it is necessary to take copies of passports and vehicle registration documents and to file them in chronological order. If the passport cannot be copied, the passport number must be added to the customer data. The Independent Repairer or his staff must adjust the chassis number of the vehicle and confirm it on the form. On request, the complete records must be provided to Volkswagen AG or Volkswagen UK at any time. The enquired data will be stored.

*There are no two ways about it, there are a lot of "professionals" out there who are performing unofficial activations. While we always tried to stay away from offering these its something we have to now offer in order to compete in todays marketplace.

Unofficial Activations are carried out within a vehicle's control modules and systems, using the same software and coding as genuine activations however during general updates for vehicle software (for example while servicing or during repair works) any unofficial works may be overwritten and removed. Unofficial Activations of this type have no warranty and may invalidate parts of a vehicle's warranty. The trade-off between Official vs Unofficial is cost, an unofficial activation is cheaper for the customer.

VAG Car Coding™ Limited does not use software downloaded from internet forums or indeed other unofficial sources. We don't use pre-made solutions and templates complied by others. When replacing or reprogramming engine control units, immobilisers (separate units or combination instruments or similar), keys, and lock sets, the proofs of Personal Identification (Passport, Driving licence, Utility Bill etc) and the vehicle registration document / Insurance Document must be submitted by the customer and entered by the Independent Repairer in the Volkswagen record sheet. For the protection of the customer it is necessary to take copies of passports and vehicle registration documents and to file them in chronological order. If the passport cannot be copied, the passport number must be added to the customer data. The Independent Repairer or staff must adjust the chassis number of the vehicle and confirm it on the form.

On request, the complete records must be provided to Volkswagen AG or Volkswagen UK at any time. The enquired data will be stored.

Abuse may violate civil or criminal law and may lead to prosecution.

Audi Q7 4M 3.0TDI QUATTRO SLINE Audi Smartphone Interface Activation!

The owner of this vehicle connected us for a Genuine Audi Smartphone Interface quote but chose a “professional” in the Midlands as they were a little cheaper.

This vehicle went to Audi for servicing & warranty works but when handed back Audi Smartphone Interface (ASI) had been removed! Owner returned to dealership & they attempted to restore all VIN related activations, the process completed successfully but ASI was still missing, & when listing all activations ASI was not valid!

The owner reached out to us for help & after investigating we found the ASI activation had been completed unofficially, not via a genuine licence! Needless to say the owner was not happy! They had been lied to & while not paying retail they paid close too for something that was not genuine!

As part of an on-going project this @mrctungltd tuned monster 2016 Pre-Facelift Audi RS3 is seeing a number of retrofits and upgrades!

From the 1st February 2021 approval from Audi AG is needed to install any used immobiliser and security related control units, a process which can take up to 48 hours to complete. As a result two sessions may be needed and the installation of used parts cannot be guaranteed.

Needle Sweepers strike again! Bit of a mess this one. A “professional” supplied this activated MIB2 High, that’s actually for an Audi TT 8S, used a “messy” internet template to hack it and then could not complete the installation as they had no idea how to retrofit the needed USB ports or indeed correctly code the MIB2! Not a problem for VAG Car Coding™ Limited!

Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Android Auto Activation and Thinkware Dashcam Installation!

First modifications to our Porsche completed!

At the moment Porsche only offer Apple CarPlay by way of mobile device integration. Always found this a little strange as there are loads of Android users out there but knowing these systems like we do, and after lots of testing, we have activated Android Auto in our PCM4 GTS. Obviously this is an unofficial activation and it won’t be supported via Porsche but as a company we need to learn and test on our own cars as opposed to our customers.

As with all our vehicles we have also installed a 2 Channel Dashcam, the Thinkware Q800Pro which is a set and forget system with 2k video and amazing power management and parking mode recording.

Volvo V90 Cross Country 2.0TDI Thinkware Dashcam Installation!

Installation? More like rescue!

The owner of this vehicle tagged along on his friends installation booking as he more than slightly messed up his DIY installation of a Thinkware Q800Pro. Cables were training everywhere and the system was connected to the cigarette lighter. The camera was also mounted on the drivers side of the vehicle within “eye-line” which would be an MOT failure!

We completed a Hardwired and hidden installation of the customers supplied parts and even guided him through complete configuration and setup!
