VCDS coding of RLFS sensor

[Obvs]

Hi everyone, just after a bit of advise, with the coding of the RLFS sensor. I have the sensor, a new headlamp switch for auto function and familiar with VCDS, although normally on my Amarok. Just got an A3 Sportback (8v) and want a little heads up to the correct coding/under which control units.
Main reason is for auto wipers and coming/leaving home to work in accordance with the daylight. Many thanks, Oli.

The factory default coding for the RLFS = 00006C. You will also need to code the RLFS in 09 - Cent Elect = Byte 6 > Bit 0-1 = 02 Light Sensor (PR-8N6) installed. From memory this is all you should need to do in order to have Auto lights and wipers work, other than setting your Switch to Auto and moving your wiper stake to the first position. Spray water or drum your fingers on the sensor to test.

(4)-Comfort illumination-Coming Home Leuchten = Lights to use in addition to DRL as CH/LH Lights
(5)-Comfort illumination-Coming-home Einschaltereignis = CH Lights Trigger (i have mine set to drivers door)
(7)-Comfort illumination-Leaving-Home Verbausstatus = Enabled
(8)-Comfort illumination-Menuesteuerung Leaving-home Freischaltung per BAP = LH MMI Menu Active
(9)-Comfort illumination-Menueeinstellung Leaving-home Zeit per BAP = Time for LH Lights to stay on (max 90secs)

Channels 6 and 10 are for adjusting the CH/LH lights sensitivity. I have not completed any testing around these.

Brilliant, thanks for the quick reply. I will attempt it next week and let you know how I get on, just waiting for gel pad that I forgot to order for the sensor. I'm normally a bit more adventurous but on older models it's always been in English for adaptions, seem more reserved not knowing German!

There is another adaptation which I am searching my notes for, which will add a Rain Sensor MMI Menu (on/off). Will post it up once I have found the notes but it's not needed in order to have everything working.

Stuffs are only in German at the moment due to Ross-Tech not getting around to updating the translations. Each new version of VCDS adds new english labels tho

Can you post up an autoscan? Do you have dynamic / adaptive headlights?

From the main VCDS screen select the Autosan button and then on the next screen click start and once completed select save. Cope and paste the information in this thread and don't worry about any errors / malfunctions for the moment.

Autoscan "scans" the whole car at high level Post up the whole lot if possible.

1st headlamp switch fault 929796 occured when I disconnected the headlight switch with the ignition on (I think anyway!)

Few things to test here as it looks like:

• Light Switch could be incorrect as the "AE" is for use with Adaptive Headlights.
• Faulty Light Switch as it cannot be polled correctly by the car at the moment. It's still showing as a "J" Unit.
• Incorrect Long Coding within 09 - Cent Elect.

This is what I would do first before going any further:

1. Light Switch in Position 0, Wiper Stalk in OFF Position and Ignition in 1st Position ONLY.
2. All Doors Closed but NOT locked.
3. Make sure that 09 - Cent Elect > Long Coding > Byte 2 > Bits 0-2 are set correctly: If you have High Beam Assist (Light Assist) you need to select 03 from the drop down. If you don't have HBA you need to select 02.
4. You need to Enable 09 - Cent Elect > Long Coding > Byte 7 > Bit 5 (Light Switch with Assistance Driving Light (ADL) Installed).
5. Once 2 and 3 have been completed log off and turn off the ignition and wait for 5 mins.
6. Turn Ignition to 1st Position.
7. Reconnect VCDS and perform an Autoscan.
8. When complete select save.
9. Once saved select Clear All DTCs.
10. Once completed Untick Display Freeze Frame and run another Autoscan, then save.

This will make sure that the modules are coded correctly and that any Historic DTC's / errors and or advisories are removed. The final Autoscan will then display any Current issues which need to be investigated. Post up the results before testing any lights please

Had to chuck the test map on quickly as laptop was dying, no warnings and will check later when dark whether they work.
