Facelift Virtual Cockpit "Issues"

Hey, I have a brand new 2020 AUDI A3 that has been retrofitted with Virtual Cockpit,
Due to my local importer trying to save money, it came with the MMI2 STD.

While retrofitting the VC, the MMI2 wasn't upgraded to the HIGH version due to extremely high costs.
I have a problem with the VC which I don't know if it's normal (because my MMI is the STD one).

Sometimes on the "playback" section it displays "No Entries Available", and sometimes it does show the songs information (on Bluetooth, USB cable same results sometimes it show and sometimes no entries available).

It does the same with the radio stations (only shows the name of the current station - but doesn't let u switch stations via the VC as it says "No entries available")

Same thing on the VC phone menu.
i've added a few pictures which in them you could see sometimes it does display media info, and sometimes it doesn't. The phone's info never popped out.

PS: the "missing letters" are fine because the MMI doesn't support Hebrew (and the songs name were in Hebrew)

Both physical and coding checks need to be performed in order to work out what the issues are here. I would contact my coding partner Hi-Led, am assuming you are in the region as you have Hebrew as language, he should be able to sort this for you:

Hi-Led did the VC retrofit on my car :). He is a professional without a doubt, but still.
He says it's normal due to the fact that I have MIB2 STD and not MIB2 HIGH.

But that doesn't make sense to me because with the older regular istrument cluster I did have contacts information & abillity to switch between radio stations using the steering wheel and MFD - which now I don't have and it only says "No Entries Available".

Plus the fact that sometimes it does show the media info and sometimes doesn't, make my "theory" that it's not related to the MIB2 STD even stronger i guess.

I've sent you in PM my chassis number if that helps aswell as some photos of my system and USB ports, because I dont know whats the part number of my MIB2.

Though I dont have the "charge only" usb port which as far as I understood from Hi-Led it's a good start?
 
Don't believe your unit supports a Virtual Cockpit:

81A 035 824 D

You would need to retrofit an MIB2 STD High Scale Delphi or MIB2 High Harman

I understand, can you maybe give me the parts number of those units you mentioned above?
 
the 81v035035 has dab, the 81v035036 does not...
Same with 8v1035035 and 8v1035036

there is also an 8v1035038 capable of vc. (2019)
 
Hi,
I recently got the VC retrofit done aswell and it looks awesome! However lost the following functions:
- Hill Hold Assist
- Loss of bass (low compared to prior retrofitting)

Would anyone know the cause of these losses? And how would I be able to regain these features?

The CarPlay in the middle console only charges my phone but doesn’t pick up CarPlay which is also frustrating.

Are you upgrading mib1 to mib2?
Upgrading vc should not change mmi output..

Carplay: have Yup changed the USB in middel console? The mib1 or base mib2 is charge only.

Hillhold should not be lost.. dit ypu reconnect the hh switch if/When changing middel console?

Hi,

Managed to get hill hold sorted. Needed to connect via VCDS and change a few bytes

I have a Harman MIB2 Main unit (8V1 035 035 C) with two USB and AUX in centre console. But still unable to get CarPlay working. Any ideas? Coding maybe?

Yes, Navigation & Bluetooth both work. (However no SIM for Audi Connect but I’ll contact Audi this week see if they offer a free subscription or trail, hopefully they offer with it being a retrofit if not then I’ll have to look into a SIM only deal)

Need to make sure your USB [prt is configured correctly for ASI.

Thanks @DJAlix could you shed some light on how to go about this? Is it coding via VCDS/ODIS. Also, have you had anyone mention any issues with sound/bass post VC retrofit as my bass is almost non-existence compared to prior retrofit. I have looked at sound settings on MMI and still no luck. Thanks in advance.

VCDS, 5F long coding. Look for USB and you will see the options within a drop down.

If you have the Audi Sound System then there is a good chance you will no longer have a subwoofer control and the default volume will be 50%.

Ah that’s a bit of a downer! Is there a way to correct the sound from 50%?

There is no fix for MIB2 High and Audi Sound System at the moment.

I see! Fingerscrossed there’s a fix soon! I appreciate your help @DJAlix I’ll keep you updated on how I get on with the USB/CarPlay fix. Stay safe!
 
Did you hook up the 5v from mmi to USB?
12v from fusebox?

Aa/carplay is in the main menu (smartphone)
 
Yes all connected. Like I mentioned earlier my USB/CarPlay & Audi Smartphone option from MMI menu doesn’t work with my iPhone. However, DJAlix has mentioned looking into VCDS for this fix, so I will keep you updated.
 
Hi all,

So tried to connect to 5F on VCDS to rectify CarPlay solution but no joy. It comes up with failure to communicate (-2) error message. Any ideas what about this message? Update my VCDS?

The pop up seems to suggest you have an interface error. Can you talk with any other modules?

No. Same error on some of the other modules @DJAlix. I tried to access front door modules to activate door/warning lights but no luck.
 
Anyway to rectify this? Any other solutions I could try?

that's old. If genuine then I suggest updating to the current v20.x. Also, Hex+CAN cables are not going to be able to fully communicate with your vehicle. You will need a Hex V2 or Hex NET cable. Another thing, as you have a 2020 vehicle you will also have a diagnostic firewall. Before you can make any changes you will need to pop the hood in order to disable the firewall.

Although my MMI unit has been removed from a salvage donor car with CP removed and interface updated, if I change anything on 5F module would it interfere with any other coding within the MMI unit using VCDS & HEX-V2?
 
Did you get your VCDS working?

Changing adaptations and long coding, as long as you don’t changes things which you don’t understand, should not mess with CP, firmware or licence codes.
 
I’ve downloded the updated VCDS. I’m just waiting on arrival of genuine VCDS v2 cable. Hoping it works.
 
i have big screen, unit with 2 sd slot and sim slot, no touch pad, navigation.. and build in wifi.. :/
