Vw sharan heating unit

Hi I have a problem with my wife's sharan when you put the key in the ignition to start the car the display on the heating unit flashes every icon at the same time (like a test mode) then if you give it a min and press any button it will return to normal.

The problem was caused when I was checking the plugs were connected at the back of the unit as there was power but the blower at the front was working intermittently, so I unplugged all the connections 1 by 1 and re connected them to see if that would fix problem but it has the blower motor that had an intermittent fault and needed replaced.

My question how do I stop this flashing of icons at start up.

if unit flashes it means its got a fault
vcds will cancel fault
