Thanks Jassy. This is actually the reason I bought it. I originally had the glass stuff on but couldn’t live with the wiper judder so got my detailer to machine polish it off. Now it is mostly off but my blades still squeak a little just as they leave the resting position if there isn’t a lot of moisture, so my guess is maybe there is a little left at the bottom. I’ve literally no idea if glass polish can help with this I’ve just took a stab in the dark tbh.

Just dampen any applicator/cloth till the final buff off/money shot as glass polish especially Gtechniqs is prone to a lot of dusting

Quick question for you buffs on here, thanks to your help I ended up cleaning the tyres on the S5 with a decent brush and some GTechiq APC. Now they'd never been cleaned properly so after about 5 washes the suds were appearing to be white, so assumed tyres were clean.

When I came to apply the dressing, the MF cloth was coming up dark black as if the tyre was still dirty. Is this likely to be true/normal? Or did I need to clean them more thoroughly?

Looks MEGA pal :thumbs up:Curious though - you machine polish - more than the average fella. Do you worry about the depth remaining on your clear coat? Serious question - and I know equivalent to ‘how long is a piece of string?’ but interested in your perspective on how much polishing is ‘too much’ for you and your car’s clear coat?

It all started with a dartboard, but as I tend to, I’m getting carried away and escalating that into a wider ‘Man Cave Improvement Project’. Once the dartboard and backing board were on, I started thinking, it could be nice if the space I spend a few hours a week in was less ‘dingy’ - so I’ve started painting the brickwork (will look better and seal everything off to keep dust at bay). Made a start (pic below), but lots more to do (and the rest is concrete breeze block which is a major PITA to paint!).

And then I thought, this is a good opportunity to properly organise all my detailing gear as well, so storage solutions and shelving etc being worked on in parallel.

And then I thought...it would also be good to get the flooring sorted out properly (garage floor paint sucks, always ends up peeling), so I’m researching garage flooring solutions - thinking I’m gonna go with porcelain garage floor tiles. Porcelain sounds counter intuitive - brittle, right? But I’m talking commercial grade proper garage tiles, that can take a car’s weight - like they use in the dealerships. Not that expensive as it turns out. £160 for tiles to cover my single garage floor (plus adhesive and grout etc - I’ll lay ‘em myself so no labour costs). Looked at those PVC style interlocking tiles, but seems like that’s a more expensive and not as good an option as porcelain.

And then I thought it could be nice to replace the garage doors with an electric, remote controlled roller door. Which turns out not as pricey as I first thought. More research needs to be done on this, but I’ve well and truly opened Pandora’s freakin’ box now :grimacing:. I’m now looking at many, many hours of DIY, some new flash garage doors and this is turning out to be the most expensive dartboard. Ever. Lol.

And then I thought, Christ I’ve got a full time job as well, this is gonna take months!

Interesting observation @Jimbob76 as I have thought the same on numerous occasions as well. And it is not just on @jaasyo06 polishing regime but others as well. How much is enough and when is it you stop as you've almost 'reached the last layer of your clear coat'. My view is that it is less of an issue if using a DA but more of a problem when using a rotary.

I think the thing here is that the Jedi has already corrected his paint long ago so any machine polishing from there has been light . Non aggressive pads and compounds , putting small defects right. I'd say with the right method, compounds and pads then machine Polishing destroying the clear coat wouldn't come to mind. Best in mind that using a finishing polish has no cut so it's simply buffing the shine up albeit with a DA.
