  3. Vauxhall Astra Starmist 1.4L
  4. Vauxhall Astra Starmist 1.4L, yes another one
  5. Vauxhall Astra GTE 16v mk2, still owned since 2004 was stock now a fully fledged road legal track car with gnarly bits
  6. Vauxhall Omega Estate GLS 2L
  7. Vauxhall Frontera 2.2L 5 door
  8. VW Touareg Altitude 5.0L V10, very sad day when this was sold but served it's time well
  9. VW Amarok 3.0L V6, current ownership
My wife's list; driving since 1997 and again keeps them a while like me. She's a petrol head which helps.
  1. Vauxhall Nova Diamond 1.2L
  2. Vauxhall Astra Arctic 1.6L but now with a 3.0L V6, still owned since 1999
  3. Vauxhall Astra GSi mk3

Omega GLS workhorse 1.

Calibra SE9 lovely motor but started going pink so moved it on.

hi I now own the cavalier motorsport (L24NNN) could you inbox me please would be nice to know a little about it
thanks

1976 Opel Ascona 1.9SR Mk 2 (bought after leaving university and starting work, eight years old, dropping to bits, close to death but who doesn't love thier first car?)
1977 Ford Fiesta 1.1S Mk 1 (Impulse buy as it was a hot summer and it had a sun roof, total mistake, only kept it three months)
1982 Vauxhall Astra 1.3GL Mk 1 (first non-banger, pretty decent car)
1983 Vauxhall Cavalier 1.6L Mk 2 (dreary and dull)
1987 Vauxhall Nova 1.3SR (long before it became the chav's favourite, a good little pocket rocket)
1989 Vauxhall Astra 1.3L Mk 2 (slow, heavy for its size and nothing like as good as the Mk 1)
1990 Austin Rover Montego 2.0 GSi Automatic (big engine, high spec, bought on impulse due to low price - soon found out why)
1992 Vauxhall Cavalier 1.8L Mk 3 Automatic (return to safe ground, decent all-rounder, best thing was my boss's company car was only a 1.6L :) )
1993 Vauxhall Cavalier 2.5 V6 Mk 3 Automatic (total sleeper, lovely engine, kept it four years, loved it)
1998 Vauxhall Vectra 2.5CDX Mk 1 Automatic (same lovely engine, but the rest was every bit as bad as Clarkson said; top spec but you can't polish a ****)
1999 B5 Audi A4 1.8 Automatic (first Audi was low spec, non turbo 1.8, best I could afford)
1999 B5 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro Sport Automatic (had a hard life before I got it and it showed; but a great drive)
2003 B6 Audi A4 2.4SE Multitronic (smooth, silky, nice-natured car, but CVT started to show signs it was ready to give up)
2007 B7 Audi A4 3.0TDi Quattro SE Automatic (first and only diesel, hugely respected it but never quite loved it)
2015 B8.5 Audi S4 Black Edition (first ever new car and finally the car I'd always promised myself. Six years from new so far and can't think if any car thaI can afford that I would change it for. This could still be with me when it's ten years old.

So you liked a GM or two. IMO the older gen of Audis are tough to beat (well some are). I think the B8.5 S4 still looks modern and not to much in your face, I also still love the A3 8V saloon and I think it is the pinnacle of the 8V model, build/looks all just right.

I know what you mean about a pinnacle. I think the B8.5 will be viewed down the line as the high-water mark in the history of the S4. The supercharged V6 should be lauded as one of the all-time great engines.

2009 Porsche 911 (997.2) 3.6l flat-6 manual
2010 Audi S4 Avant (B8) 3.0l V6 supercharged S-tronic

I’ve got a short attention span when it comes to cars, love ticking off different formats whilst we still can:

> 4-pot 8v & 16v
> flat, in-line & V ‘sixes’
> NA, turbo & supercharged
> manual & auto
> hatch, coupe & estate
> FWD, RWD & AWD

I guess a convertible V8 next…

The hunt for the car & researching it is as much fun as owning/driving them!

Quite unique combination - I don’t think we see the supercharger used that often.

It was a lovely VAG...
Touareg Altitude V10 workhorse, bit of a sleeper ;) sad when it went but was the right time to move it on. Had it 5 years & never let me down. Did all my own maintenance & nowhere near the price people think to keep it ticking over.
