TVR jumps out straight away.
Bought it in dec 98, sold March 2000.
Used as my main car, so 12k miles a year at the time, 2 services a year at 600 a pop. Insurance 1200 a year.
Worked out it cost me 900 a month while I owned it.
It's still on the road though.

I remember being at traffic lights on way to work. Police pulled up next to me. Window down. Do you know you were speeding sir?
No, sorry officer (lying and hoping for the best)
Well just take care next time, followed by, I bet that car is a beast...
And it certainly was.

Going from an RS3 to a M135i is an interesting choice.
The BMW was in the showroom just before lockdown in March. Got a decent deal on it so swapped.
Haven't regretted it, the beemer is so much better inside, the tech and the hud etc are miles ahead.
I was going to wait for the 8y, but I really don't like it. It’s monster headlights even outdo the BMW grille.
Only shame is I've had to work from home since March so I've only done 2800 miles.

2 services a year, ouch. Certain cars carry a bit of grace don’t they, doubt you’d get the same response in the RS.

Yep, 2 trips to nearest dealer in Northwich from lancaster every year.

Wipers packed up in way to work in Lytham. They stopped upright, I had my hand out of window to keep them working. Rang dealer, they wanted me to drive there, said no way, so they arranged me to go directly to factory in Blackpool.
Guy who fixed it said fuse fusebox was in front of passenger Footwell.
He told me the fix, they just covered it in more grease lol.

Can count on one hand how many owned. Over 30 years of driving and only owned 5 cars.

Last year my son had this framed artwork created for my birthday present.

Shows the history of what cars I have owned.

Not as long a list as you guys, but hopefully just as interesting.

I've kept it to cars I've actually owned rather than been insured to drive (e.g. my dad's cars)

1. 1993 Toyota MR2 turbo (regret selling)
2. 1993 Toyota Supra Twin-Turbo (current)
3. 2007 Mini Cooper S (sold)
4. Audi A3 Edition 1 (current)
5. Something coming very soon :) (I won't spoil it for my YouTube subscribers)

They are a great car, I almost bought one myself. 2 things stopped me, firstly I didn’t think point to point it was any faster or more fun to drive then my TCR and secondly by the time I had spec’d it up to my requirements it was getting in to silly money. I also wanted the performance kit added, and even with the dealer offering to supply at cost and fit it for free it was working out very expensive for a few bits of black plastic.

I've swapped cars too often, but had a lot of fun. Buying our van in 2016 led to a succession of car changes as our car needs evolved - starting with small cars to run alongside the van and later getting into mid-size hatchbacks as our kids grew.

The van is now 8 years old and will be affected by a local low emissions zone. The current A3 is a similar age, so I'm planning to upgrade it to a brand new car and use the van less for longer trips (as it'll cost £9 each day to enter or leave our area!).

Yeah it was, I did the twin headlight conversion and koni shockers.
My lasting memory is going through the automated carwash and the exhaust caught halfway through. The car just sat there while the rollers skipped underneath the wheels with the next car getting closer....I laugh about it now haha

I think my biggest surprise from this thread is, just how many people have had a Vauxhall of some description
People of a certain age (40-50) grew up on Fords and Vauxhall’s. You were either one or the other. I always preferred Vauxhall’s in my youth.

My adolescent dream car was a Manta GTE, then a Gen 1 MR2 - never owned either though.

Mine was an Austin Healey 3000 then a Ferrari Dino in my youth......had to settle for a Ford Anglia :blow:

Dino - I know people have a go, but rockin’ dream car. Was too far beyond possibility for me. Cue TopGear Italian supercar <£10,000 challenge episode....
