Cars in having it's 5 year cambelt done, water pump, new stat

Got a call that the tensioner bolt is stripped in the head. A very common problem it seems. Needs a heli-coil and a bolt that even Audi supply to fix this issue

Eprom modification unlocking the functions so those and needle sweep can be activated via vcds

If you're willing to, could you dump the EEPROM (stock and modified) and the micronas processor as well and share it here and/or here?
This would greatly help the community in enabling these options on facelift <2010 clusters.

Needed a new set of boots on the S3 as the Pirelli P-Zero's it's had on it since I got the car were running low and I'd picked up a puncture. Went for a full set of Michelin PS4s after reading everyone's recommendations in the tyre threads. Never had them before, always used Goodyear F1 Asy 2/3's or Falken FK510s on my old Seat Leon Fr.
Only done a few short trips in the car since but seriously impressed, the grip is amazing. Just need a rainy day to put them to the test

had my 1.4 remapped today.
pulls much better through the gears. not night and day difference, but makes the car nicer to drive, and doesnt run out of steam as quickly.

Thanks.
I'll do the head unit/Bluetooth for now, and I don't like the feel from the brakes.
They're a bit 'on or off ', no gradual smoothness, so that will get a look at this weekend.
Ref your brakes mate , mine are like that as well so it may be an a3 thing lol when I test drove mine I nearly had the 4 circles on the steering wheel imprinted on my forehead when I braked , I got used to them eventually but when I drive out other car it feels like there’s no brakes haha

Oh, that's odd, mine feel very spongy. You have to press the pedal quite deep before it starts to break well, around halfway, to the point where you could heel-toe. I really don't like that to be honest, I'm kind of used to the on/off feeling from the Toyota Yaris mk3, which is fast and direct, you just need to fine-tune your leg for it to work. Same for the shifter, the gears are so far away from each other. The Yaris has a way better and refined shifter, it feels like a sporty short shifter, without needing a lot of force to shift gears.
Unfortunately, short shifters for the A3 are expensive.

Oh I didn’t realise you meant that sorry mate ! Perhaps they need a bit of a bleed ?? Mine feel like an anchor has been thrown out lol mines a 170 tdi but my friends tdi golf is the same strong braking ( I know they share a lot of the same parts etc ) ref the shifter , I went from an Impreza to a Clio ( Renault gear selector I’m saying nothing lol) then from my Clio to my A3 so my selector feels lovely after the Clio :))

Funnily enough, it has been bled twice in three months, because of a failure of the ABS module. It got replaced completely, so that's that.
Someone suggested braided brake lines, but it's not really needed.

That’s a strange one then??? You could always bleed them again....third time lucky

Cleaned, greased, and bled the front brakes today using a gunson eezibleeder. Very easy to do with the tool. Replaced about 700ml from the front two.

Just got my car back from the garage today.

Airtec Stage 2 FMIC
Forge Coolant and Intercooler hoses
Bar-Tek Charge Pipes - had both ready to fit, and the turbo muffler delete but could only fit one as the muffler delete was the wrong part
NGK BKR7EIX plugs. Cylinder 3's OEM plug is stuck and they couldn't remove so they've lubricated it so will need to back in a few weeks to have it removed and replaced once I've got the correct muffler delete..
Oil pickup pipe, sump clean.
Full service, including all filters, and Millers Nanodrive NT+
New MAF sensor
Coolant header tank.
Red coil pack harness cover.

See attached bill.. Now I just need to repair this hole in my debit card

Next up is a trip to R-Tech in September for Stage2+

Well, been a busy few weeks. Swapped out the clutch, 3" DPF pipe, EGR pipe, 2260vk turbo, cambelt, tensiors, pulleys, water pump replacement, cp3 fuel pump, uprated intercooler, and an LSD.

My only worry is I've not switched on the car at any point to test any of this works. Going to be fun fault finding. If all goes well it'll be a remap taking it from 190hp (remapped) to 265hp

I cleaned my steering wheel, amazed by how it now feels like new despite the car being on 100k. Didn’t think it was ever possible to get them back to matte.

Will do. It's an A3 2.0 tdi - CFFB - year 2011 (60 plate). Finally got the car back together, with the filters and oil changed. I've yet to top the car up with coolant, need to wire the new cp3 pump, after which I will need to prime the turbo and fuel lines.

I'm tempted to remove the injectors and give them an ultra sonic clean + replace the seals/washers.

How did you do that?
I noticed mine is glossy, except around the back, top and bottom of the mfsw buttons, where it's matte. I feel like I'd be doing it incorrectly if I'd start using a high grid sandpaper on the leather.

Did the windows yesterday in a specialist.
Xpel xr 35 tint films.
Super useful here in Greece!

And she's running. The exhaust note is completely different and at 2,000-3,000 rev's it is loud. Drove for around 40 miles and all is well. Need to book it in for a tune with BSR.

I used a mixture of a stiff brush, magic eraser and auto glym leather cleaner, on reflection my brush was a tiny bit too harsh. Go easy or you’ll mark the wheel, I did but wasn’t too worried as I imagine the oils from my hands will cover it up.
Will post a few pictures when I get to it

1.4 caxc waterpump recently started making a metallic grinding noise.
Ordered up a mahle pump, ina idler bearing and contitech belt.
Pump taken off and found a minor leak and slight end float of the bearing. All replaced and now its silent again.
Total cost was 136 fitted.

Nice man! Have you got both Turbo pipes done, inlet and outlet?

Sweet. Yeah same setup as me except mine are Bar-Tek not CTS. How good does the turbo sound with the muffler delete
Can't wait to get down to R-Tech next month.

Oh and in other news, had my first MOT this week since getting the race cat fitted. That passed fine, but my front right shock absorber is knackered. Can't get hold of any Bilstein B8s to go with my H&R springs, and all I can get my hands on is a set of AP by KW Coilovers, booked in at Awesome GTI to get them fitted on Monday. Hoping it's not going to be too harsh. H&R springs are going to be going for sale as now surplus to requirements

Sounds like a fiat 500 abarth on roids if you know what i mean, and i may have to pinch the spring off you. My rear spring have rusted had my MOT 3 weeks ago so they eventually snap plus im not worried bought the mot as i know loads of garrages will pass it

Haha yeah I know what you mean, sounds incredible. The turbo flutter is well loud. I had my Turbo inlet pipe fitted by my garage at the same time as the Airtec Stage2 FMIC and I found the throttle response was a bit poor afterwards. I then fitted the Turbo Outlet Pipe and Turbo Muffler Delete myself a week or so later which sorted that right out. I'm guessing you enjoy noticed any difference if both were fitted at the same time?

Yeah sure man, the H&R springs are exactly 1 year old and have only done about 5k miles. I'll send you some pics on Monday once they're off the car and see if you want them

Perfect man would be great

And well i put the I/C in myself and notice the the car was slightly happier but on a stage 1 with a res delete and revo intake i did feel a bit of a restriction in throttle, but this the exhaust and the muffler delete oh my god i started laughing out loud the second i start driving it like there was no resistance at all and the tone with the first dsg thunder clap

Heard the first start up and thought himm not as loud as i though it would be but thats good as its stil cruiseable at 70 as if it was stock but as soon as you hit 80 it like im.18 again in honda civic

Hahaha love it mate sounds mint. Would love to hear it, be interesting to hear the difference between my BCS system with the race cat and yours with the decat. Funny that we're both got very similar setups and going Stage2+ at R-Tech within weeks of each other. I think we need to meet up for a race

Hahaha 100% mate holding the record so far (self proclaimed) for highest stage 1 at 325bhp with the revo and res delete only curious so see if i can push the 390-400 barrier on the stage 2 plus.

And yer originally i was going to go for the WRC BCS system with the 3.5" decat but when i booked r tech in i called aks and they said 6 to 8 weeks lead time so i went to the next best thing lol im not disappointed at all but i havent really heard the bcs wrc either in person videos dont do justice

Yeah I'm very curious to see what mine will reach. Very few people who get Stage2+ bother with the Turbo pipes which are really for big turbo setups, and most don't have a cold air intake just a normal engine bay one, plus I've got the latest revision of the BCS WRC and I've also got the APR HPFP when most go for Auto-Tech Internals and I've got a 165bar FPRV over the usual RS4 136bar one so I'm hoping these extra bits will get me closer to the 390bhp level. I'd frankly be disappointed with just 360bhp unless R-Tech can get more torque out of it to make up for it but I guess we'll find out soon, I'm booked in on September 15th so don't have long to wait to find out.

We should arrange a meet sometime for the S3 owners now that the lockdown restrictions are over (for now). Be nice to put some faces to some names and check out each others cars for sure.
