What have you done to your Audi A4 B7 today?

That makes my old bus feel like it's been on a jane plan diet....

Yep 1230kg ,a whole grown man extra sat on your bonnet compared to the 2.0

Strangely the springs I ordered are suitable across the Quattro range from 2.0 petrol and diesel to 3.0tdi and 3.2 petrol !?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The HR’s I looked at were for 3.0tdi Quattro only ,different product code for 2.0tdi tfsi etc

Sorry my mistake ,the eibachs pro’s not the hr

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I found Eibach made a spring for nearly every variant, almost tailored to the car type.
To do the same one for a 2.0 and a 100kg heavier 3.0 seems like a bit of a compromise. Either one will be harsh, or one will be soft.

Yes found it odd ,eibach (pro) make 1 for the 3.0 tdi … the other option covered all the others engine sizes .hr 45 was suitable for them all 2.0-3.2
I actually had my 2.0 tdi sportlines fitted to the front of the 3.0 for a week ..sat quite a bit lower as you’d imagine but the ride wasn’t much different
The apex ones I’ve fitted today are suitable across the board ,honestly they ride very well ,maybe they just sit slightly lower when fitted to a 3.0tdi as opposed to a 2.0

Apex ..obviously the ride tightens up under load

Unfortunately the car showed signs of PCV failure in the way home last night so ordered a replacement and gasket this morning. As expected the diaphragm in the pcv had split in multiple places...

Whilst i was in the area i decided to take the opportunity to fit the new valve cover gasket that has leaked since buying the car. It was that dry and brittle it was like plastic.

Well… I’m pretty sure my A4 has a magnet for accidents.

Van driver though he could squeeze past me as I was about to reverse on to a customers drive… it’s not long been fixed since the sheep incident!!!

Hmmm… Not too much damage, but I think it’s a new wing and spraying to blend in.

Someones been a busy bee. :thumbs up: :yahoo:

That valve cover gasket looks marginally better than what mine was like....lol, and they go crusty quite quickly aswell.
DV diaphragm looks like it's been leaking for a while Alex , one split looks older than the rest, good job done chap.

Calipers are top stuff Alex , great colour too, and with 18" alloys they look massive, really fit the rim void well.:icon thumright::icon thumright:

making good progress now then.

Done a few bits today as well whilst the rain kept off this afternoon.
Oil and filter change, pretty mucky this time round so a worthwhile change.
Also removed my DV as i suspected a boost leak, nothing to be found a miss though.
Replaced the A6 snub mount bung with an OE bung I had in a box, not the best items but it's new and seems to have made an improvement.
Then spent a few hours swapping out both front driveshafts, been having some clonking on full lock and vibration at higher speeds, anyway all sorted now and lovely and smoooooth again with no nasty clonking.:yahoo:

so next week its cambelt/water pump replacement.

I was expecting it to be perished Rob but it was way worse than that. Had a right job removing it from the valve cover.

With pcv has made a huge difference to how the car drives now, it seems way smoother so all is rosie on the engine front now.

And yes really happy with the oem+ choice in colour. Just need to figure out a permanent solid fixing solution for the abs wiring and brake lines

Todays job on the Falcon - Replaced the Snub Nose Mount for a Powerflex version.
You can see from the pic it needed doing, as the old one was like an out of date marshmallow (all crumbly and nasty).

Very easy job when it was up on a 4 post lift.
Refitted.

just a small job but a long overdue one.
Replaced the rear ARB bushes , original ones were a bit sloppy so time to fit some new ones, all nice and tight on the twisty back roads again. :yahoo:

Finally got round the fitting the 320mm discs and calipers (courtesy of member Bobby Tea), it's taken me long enough to get done. Much more businesslike than the wimpy 288mm originally fitted.
Also fitted stainless brake hoses whilst at it.
And managed to lose one of the caliper spring clips when out on the test drive, Doh!

First chance I’ve had to work on the wagon for nearly a year... Finally got rid of the cheap universal spacers and fitted some hubcentric ones with spigots. Had a very slight vibration from the front that has now gone, lesson learned, don’t fit cheap spacers!

So, I need to do the control arms on my avant.

After recommendations for good quality replacement kits and if I need special tools for the job to do it myself or is it a specialist jobby.

Today i've finished replacing front nearside wheel bearing, seen below.

i've also removed the silver badges from the rear and fitted matte black rings

I know i haven't removed all the adhesive yet.
Also replaced front silver rings to matte black ones.

Looks like you may have some of the troublesome washer James, another really common failure on b7's ( yet another one)
My driver side has random sticking session and doesn't always retract fully so needs a gentle bit of persuasion to get it back in ..lol

Finally got around to doing a cam belt/tensioner /aux belt and water pump change today, no major probs, all back together and runs fun.
Did a manual throttle body recalibration, not done one for a long time so it made a noticeable difference.
fitted a new set of pads in the 18z's as the original ones were getting a bit low now.

found a strange oil issue on the drivers side IC , gave it a good clean but no obvious source of it , wasn't from the pipe work joint either, I'll keep an eye on that.

That just leaves the rear rubber spring bungs to do next week.
happy days.

My drivers side was same ,used stay out on occasions, managed to strip the jet down ,figured it must be an o ring or seal becoming loose or slightly dislodged .
Found an angled seal that was indeed slightly baggy ,was fine on the way out but the way it’s angled and not being as tight as it once was means it was getting caught in the housing as it tried to move back with the spring .I managed to find one that seems to do the job in my plumbers o ring selection box ,bit of silicone grease and all seems well so far ,beats paying 80£ for what seems a pretty basic piece of plastic and spring ,although I’m expecting that may be the eventual outcome

I had a TT for a short period of time. Looked very similar to yours. It was fun to drive but I wasn't super crazy for it. That will be a great upgrade to it though.

Yep, they were powder coated really badly, I got them and the new lines for a really good price and it was bonkers to miss out on them so can't complain.
I'll strip them back and redo them in a proper darker shade of yellow gloss and fit them on the B7 bus, transfer the red 18Z onto the TT.
it will work out in the end.
