hi i am wanting to find out exactly what this part is and does on my 2.0 tdi BKD engine?

the part in the middle of the pic that has bosch written on it and 8 bolts holding it on?

Tandem Pump.(Fuel/Vacuum).

It pumps fuel to the injectors.

It creates vacuum for things that need it, so brakes, turbo, EGR.
