Hi guys

Can someone help me with the name of this part (see red arrow)?

It's the black bit of plastic that goes under the mirror casing to hold it in place? Mine is broken and I need a replacement but have no idea what it's called.

Thanks in advance!

Jason

You just need to say its your wing mirror housing. The parts person at Audi will have access to ETKA which shows an exploded diagram of the unit with all the part no's so you dont need to know what the bit is called.

Not sure if the bit in question would be available seperately or you'd need to go complete unit. My guess is that the casing (silver) clips on the black bit not the other way round if you see what I mean. Hopefully someone with access to ETKA will be along soon. In the meantime it may help if you updated the question with what model and year your car is as the parts can sometimes change from year to year.

Thanks matey! It's a 2004 reg A3, 3 door sportback coupe. Hopefully I won't have to buy the entire casing as it also means having to spray it..

It's available on its own, my drivers side 2012 S3 one was 8P085852401C. I paid cost at £3.06. Be a different part on earlier shapes, but nevertheless seperate.

So it's a lower mirror trim :) cheers guys, will give Audi a ring tomorrow

A 2004 doesn't have the LED mirrors, isn't the black bit on the pointy mirrors the actual body?

Edit- I take it back just had a look it's held on with 2 screws

The trim piece for the bottom of the mirror for a 2004 A3 is 8E0 858 523 A 01C for left side, 8E0 858 524 A 01C for right.

hi jason
just for future reference (it may help fining parts ) your car is a 3 door not a sportback , sportback = 5 door

Haha no way, had no idea that was the case, I must've made a massive fool of myself countless times thus far so thanks for the heads up!

I ordered the part today from Trade Part Specialists, only cost me £8. I'm also considering changing the air conditioning control unit with the newer one and got quoted £700 (a 2nd hand one on eBay costs £90).

But still unsure whether it'll even fit my car, and the guy at TPS had no clue either. Do any of you guys know/have experience with these?

Sorry for late response, been very busy with work. Wanted to replace the unit as the entire thing is quite worn out, not just the buttons. Ash, that's a great guide - haven't had time to read through all the comments but skimmed through and saw someone mentioning that they managed to get the facelift unit to work on a pre-face lift Audi. Will read it properly and hopefully there's a solution in there somewhere.
