What's this worth?

It is very personal... I particularly dislike Panther Black... not a huge fan of Ara Blue ... as mentioned we all have different views and it only takes one to make a sale. WBAC value (CAP) £34k is low and low £40’s achievable I’m sure.

RS Direct have a faily low spec’d 2017 (67) plate in for £45k... strong price and good for owners if they’re still “demanding” that :icon thumright:

Just looked, no sports exhaust,SSseats,or upgraded alloys

There seem to be loads of saloons around on audi.co.uk used cars. 68 plate low miles. My RS4 did not have SS seats my S3 does. Frankly I would not pay extra for the SSS, the base is identical.

Staggered you got basically £50k for it but fair play to you and great news that residual values are holding up so well.

Was it a private sale or part ex to a dealer? I thought you had put it up for sale for £48.5k?

If it’s to a dealer... I think said dealer might be getting a fair few offered to them soon :tearsofjoy:

Astonishing price you got there and only after 2 days!

I've just had mine valued for the same, similar spec/low miles.

I assume you sold the car on a 'sale or return' basis? Can you advice on any safeguards to undertake when selling such a way?

Incredible valuations! WLTP great for current owners.

Yeah I just hope it stays this way by the time I want to change my car.

Be interesting to see what they advertise it for

Don’t you reckon FL prices are over inflated at the moment though, if order books re-open isn’t it likely that prices will drop? They’re not dropping below £40k at the moment though

Absolutely. No way should a year old RS3 be worth £50k on trade in to a dealer, no matter how well specced or low mileage it is!

People say you don't get discount on RS cars. I was offered nearly 10% off my RS3 and a TTRS and there's plenty more owners on here who managed the same.

£49,900 is what it sold for by the dealer using their sale or return service. Their commission on the sale price is £1500 + VAT and I think they said its £150 + VAT for any preparation work required on the car, so effectively the OP will have pocketed around £48k.

After speaking to the same dealer, I’ve been told I can expect the same for mine as the spec is not far off to that of the OP and well below average miles. However, I’ve quickly ruled out selling my car by such method, to do so you have to be brave (nicest way to put it) and keep your fingers crossed that nothing happens to the company and you get paid. Also, in the contract between you and the dealer, it states that you need to inform your insurance company of the cars new location and in the event of a claim for any reason, you have to claim on your own insurance. Now imagine the dealer takes a potential buyer on a test drive and has an accident, they will have third party insurance but your own car isn’t covered and no private car insurance would cover you in such circumstance, especially with you not being present and regardless if you’ve updated where the car will be kept. It would not be limited to just that situation but any other you could conceive when giving custody of your car to a third party.

There is a mountain of horror stories reported by people on various forums using sale or return to sell their cars (NOT by the aforementioned dealer) and although it has all worked out well for the OP and no doubt many others, I personally don’t think the risks are worth taking.

I’ve instead contacted some specialist dealers for a straightforward cash sale, most have given ballpark figures subject to an inspection, but the values are promising!

Nad " you are talking crap about all this Horror storie lark! and you said you have already spoke to TH BOLER" these are no small company and sell much more exotic cars over 200k than a plane audi rs3 ! Sold a new Mercedes c63 amg coupe and new bmw m4 comp before the audi rs3 with no probs! So all this Risk @@@ is just forum talk!

Get your car upto them if you wont to sell" or give it to a main audi dealer for 37k " but least you will sleep better right lol

Firstly, I want to make clear that I am not trying to rubbish/discredit ‘TH Boler’ which is why I stipulated in my last message that I was not referring to them when discussing other people’s bad experiences using sale or return to sell their cars.

And no, it’s not hogwash, here’s a couple by a way of example…

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=63&t=1089705&i=0

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=1540639

A lot to read through but both made national news.

I’m fully aware of what TH Boler is all about and went as far as checking their financial records, on that assessment alone I would not take the chance. If you think because a dealer sells more expensive cars that’s some kind of safety net then more fool you.

I do my homework and make sensible decisions based on the information I have in front of me (can’t see why you would think that is amusing?? But don’t care) and if others are prepared to dismiss certain risks and just hope for the best, that is their choice and one they will have to live with if things go wrong.

I would not even waste my time with a Audi main dealer trying to sell my car, as I said, I’ve contacted several independent specialists for an outright cash purchase and most have made very reasonable offers which I’m considering. I will visit a few of the dealers next week in the hope of securing a sale at the top end of their valuation.

What car are you going to replace the RS3 with Nad?

Also Jonny, how was the C63 and M4 compared to the RS3? They're both the next tier up so surprised you went to the RS3 and now M2 comp.

I would never ever suggest BMW or MB are next tier up.

infernox
id say the c63 amg was the best sounding and very nice interior! Also much best on insurance! very harsh ride though! heavy on petrol" and not best sound system and interface system!
M4 Comp was very fast but not best with even little damp condition" very hard power hit low down in rev range was problem! sounded not best! Has best feel and handling of 3 cars! and looks very aggressive and good in my opinion!
Audi rs3 was around 12k cheaper" sounds good and off line is a animal " (my car was apr stage 1) was little more lag than m4 twin turbo! interior was very good for price" (did have rs design pack) the sound system was best of all cars! but had lot of probs with the MMI screen at start" but was put right after 4 trips to audi" has happened few time since! Looks good at front of car" but not best from back and sides IMO
Cost of insurance is high for whot it is! and had lot of unwonted probs with thieves

RS3 is good car but little over priced id say and not the most Fun drive!

He means model class wise. The A3/RS3 competes against the Merc A class and BMW 1/2 series.

The C Class and 3/4 series compete against the A4.

I would say class wise and quality wise! And yes I did try a C63 before ordering RS4. Lovely V8 but that was all, decidedly tacky and low rent. BMW not for me, just feels like a downmarket VW. It’s the whole package for me. Yes I do own and have owned several Audis but always consider the options and buy based on a number of objective factors..

Just comes down to personal preference and best deal you can get

Basically what Doc said. The C63 and M4 compete with the RS4/5 price wise and size wise. But the RS3 is similar price to the M2 competition. Jonny how come you went for the RS3 instead of the TTRS? I'd say that's more comparable to the 2 door coupes you've listed and the M2.

infernox I did look at the ttrs and even had test drive before I did the rs3" Just not sure about the rear of the car and feminine look! Also the extra cost from rs3! I wont a more driver focussed car and going for a manual box for the 1st time in 9 years and my mk2 focus rs Test drove a honda civic type r and was really surprised just how fast and light it was" lots of grip also for FWD Just little boy racer for me I think"
drove a manual bmw m2 comp last week and even though the manual box was not as good as the civic and still little notchy! It was fast and power delivery was better than it was in my m4 comp and the traction light never flickered once! sounded ok also

Contemplating an RS4. I know most of you have bonded well with your RS3’s and are loving every minute, but sadly I’m just not feeling it with mine.

I had a 2016 RS3 for 2 years, absolutely loved it but also had a boring B9 Quattro tdi avant as a DD. Sold both and bought an RS4 as mileages reduced. Absolutely love it and without doubt more fun than the RS3. However a month after buying the RS4 I landed a contract with regular 250 mile a day trips and didn’t want lots of miles on RS4, so I bought a new FL S3 - great car, 35mpg motorway and very competent. The RS4 is not as much of a hooligan as the RS3 or even the S3 but my goodness what a lovely beast and less than £300 a year to insure!!

you say your RS4 is absolutely more fun than your rs3 was buddy! Then say its not so much a hooligan than the rs3 or even facelift s3 you have know" I thought a fun car was ment to feel like a hooligan? so that makes the rs3 a more fun car than the rs4 right? and if talking speeds" don't think the rs4 estate would be much quicker if any than the rs3 "

Yeah there's something a bit odd about the TTRS looks to me too, I think the roofline needs to be less curved. I was thinking what car I'd get after the RS3 and I'd want to try a V8 car with a manual before everything goes electric but they aren't many around. I know there's the ford mustang but in ways that's a downgrade to the RS3. Maybe I've been spoiled from having Audi interiors for the last 6-7 years. Most of the V8 cars I like are in the 60-80k range and only 2 doors. Maybe the next C63 Saloon if it comes with 4WD could do. Anyway I shouldn't be thinking too far ahead, not looking to change for a while.

I'm obviously biased but I think the TTRS looks incredible. The amount of stares and looks it gets is unbelievable...sometimes I wonder if even an R8 would get so much attention...it certainly seems as rare a car.

As for V8's, I think Mercedes have really got that market well covered and you struggle to beat them! A mate has a Mustang V8 and it's very quiet and not that fast.

The RS4 is far quicker from A to B .. very planted to the road and effortlessly eats the miles PLUS you can feel like a hooligan when you want to. Best of both worlds.

The front of the TTRS is great and I do think it stands out.

Yeah if the new C63 stays V8 and is AWD then I'd put it on my list, probably the saloon one so it'll fit everything I need. If I could get a 2 door coupe, I'd also be interested in the Lexus LC500 V8, not that fast but naturally aspirated V8 must be nice and it looks great inside and out to me. The RC-F would be the cheaper alternative to it but not as good. Then there's also the Maserati GranTurismo which also has a NA V8 but its quite old now.
