Where has my text notification gone?

This may be more of an iPhone issue than an A4 one, but I'd really like some help. I never used Siri or CarPlay and much preferred the MMI. I had an old iPhone 6 when I bought the car in September. Then, when I got a new text message, I'd get a sound and green exclamation mark come up over the iPhone icon at the top of the Virtual Cockpit. I could then read the text in the MMI. I've recently got an iPhone 7, and while I still dislike and don't use, CarPlay I've started to use 'Hey Siri' for music and some other stuff. I still prefer the MMI overall. Now when I get a new text message (assume I'm not using Siri or CarPlay at this point) I no longer get any notification and the green exclamation mark no longer appears. On the face of it, the only change has been the new phone. What do I need to do to get my exclamation mark back?

If you go to bluetooth settings, and where you see your AUDI entry - press the little (i) icon - then make sure 'show notifications' is on!
