Hi Guys,

My 2005 2.0 TDI B7 has started to make a wierd metal rattling/rotating sound when you come off the throttle. It's mostly noticeable in the lower gears and when you really put your foot down (hard acceleration). Initially I thought it was when you put clutch in but seems to happen regardless. Appears to be coming directly from the engine bay itself right near the pedals.

Car seems to drive fine and pulls well - clutch doesn't appear to be slipping either.

It recently had all the oil pump/balance shaft work done.

Any ideas what it could be?! It's driving me mad!

Cheers

Heat shield? They are known to come loose as the metal where the securing bolts locate is prone to galvanic corrosion.
