I haven't read every comment on here so, sorry if I'm repeating someone else.
I have had an absolutely horrendous experience with my local, franchised Audi dealer. You know the type - lots of glass, lots of 'suits', free coffee and scones and not a mechanic in sight (they might be dirty(!?).
I acquired my Audi A3 3.2 (46k) two years ago (just 7k added since) and have dealt with this dealer three times.
First time they claimed to have fixed a simple fault. It was a blown bulb on the rear number plate (an MOT failure) and I had told them about it when I left the car with them for a service. Before collecting my car I was told twice, by two different 'suits' that the bulb problem had been sorted. On collecting the car I found that the bulb had not been 'sorted' and, rather than admit their mistake, I was told that I had "not asked for an MOT service"(!?). The car had to be taken back to the service dept. On checking my service record I found that it had not been updated. A while later I left my car in for a 'Haldex' service and they promised that the service record would be updated regarding the previous service and the 'Haldex'.
When I went to collect the car the 'Haldex' service had been filled in with the appropriate mileage but the previous service hadn't been recorded. When this was pointed out they filled in the original service on the next page so that, as far as the sequence of records went, the mileage actually reduced.
Recently I had my car serviced again with the same company and, after asking them to be careful with the service record, I collected my car and found that the mileage had been written in, scribbled out and written in again.
Can you imagine trying to explain these anomalies to a potential purchaser.
When I complained about this last experience I was politely told to try some smaller, non- Audi approved, business. In other words "Go away - we only want satisfied customers!"
I would like to thank anyone who has borne with me so far and I would like to ask a couple of questions:
Am I being unreasonable in the level of care I should expect from a main Audi dealer?
Have Audi main dealers some secret magic that should put me off smaller businesses?
