as the title suggests... I decided to put a Qi charger in the arm rest to charge my phone.

I think the photos below are self explanatory and happy with the end result!
Placing the phone on the rubber mat in the arm rest results in a confirmation beep from the charger and the phone starts charging.
Also, with the ignition off, the USB port is off so no power draw from the coil in the charger when the car is not in use.

Very nice/neat mod. I'm looking forward to having a wireless charge phone.

I have the Audi Phone Box option, be interesting to see if this charging technology interferes with the pico-cell signal booster in the armrest also.

Outstanding job Sir!

I don't know why Audi did not do this as standard or at least with it £300 "phone box" option, I was debating doing something similar myself :)

I take it the "extended" air gap does not cause any charging issues?

No issues to report, works every time. I have added some small foam pads onto the top of the rubber mat so that my phone is centralised over the charger underneath and doesnt move around under acceleration :)
Ive also checked that the charger isnt getting too hot after a prolonged period but becasue audi nicley vented the bottom of the arm rest for cooling, its perfect for cooling the charger too.
All in all its a very simple and cheap mod and works like it was put there by the factory.
