Passat fan washer jets poor spray

Got a set of the Passat fan front screen washers on my b7, but the spray coming out of them is useless.

It only just about gets above the wipers..

They are adjusted all the way up.

Does anyone else have an issue with this or would it be my pump that is weak / blocked??

I seem to remember I somehow put my spacers on the wrong side so pushed them the wrong way at first - I suppose the test would be if there is a sign of more than usual amount of liquid hitting the bonnet lip?
