Hi guys,
When unlocking and opening doors, car is showing a Gearbox fault, saying car not in Park.
The car is in park as when previously shutting car off, I’ve listened for the audible click when engaging Park.
I’ve run a Carista check and have Transmission Range Sensor "A"/"B" Correlation error.
I’m going to get it booked in but before I do, has anyone had this before? Is it a DIY’able job?
Cheers.

That will be the mechatronic unit that will need replacing.... very expensive if done by the dealer.

It can be diy-ed but you need to open the box pull the TCM and than send ot off for repair, opening the box means you'll need to drain the gearbox oil and replace the filter. All of which are expensive because the oil is a very special blend of synthetic oils that allows for slippage, keeping dirt trapped and suspended so it gets to the filter, and keep temperatures down. All while maintaining the low level of slippage and higher level of grip.

1liter sells at almost 50 pounds and you need at least 4.5 liters but since you need to drop all the oil and filter you'll.need about 7 Liters... than there is the fact that yelling the oil can only be done with a syphon pump from the bottom .. and you'll soon go f-that I'll pay for it

of = if
yelling = filling

ps an indy will pull the TCM for you but you'll have to book it in and they'll probably want to send it of to one of their trusted refurbishers. FYI the refurbisher will open up the sealed unit and replace the soldered connections with more durable solder and wiring, than replace the valves that probably is causing the problem (stuck because of dirt) test it, put the latest software on it than send it back... expect around 500 to 600 pounds for this... and if you get them to just drop it and give you the TCM to send it of yourself a repair it'll be between 150 to 250 pounds depending on the parts that need sorting out. that is with out the costs for replacing the oil and filter that will be around 200 and 350 pounds if done by an indy specialist audi as they will need to fill the oil at a certain temperature, it's actually 45 degrees for a multitronic and tiptronic, 50 degrees for a DSG box.

Thanks for the reply @northpole, appreciate your time.

I’m a little confused though; is the Transmission Range Sensor faulting due to the Control Module? Is that definite?

I’ve looked at the cost of the Range Sensor and I’m praying it’s not the TCM!!

It depends on the tcm module that is in your box mate... the range sensor on the older models are integrated in it.

Ah ok thanks. Seems like it’s going to be a monster of a diy job. Best get a pro to do it.
On the plus side, if I spend £1500 getting it sorted, that’ll take me to an even 10k in repair bills to keep it on the road!!
