2016 Map Update

Ah OK....
Im sure someone had said SD nav coukd get updates earlier in the thread.....nevermind. At least Audi connect gives me the option to update internet radio on a Q3 or A1.... Pretty handy in my S3!

I've updated a couple of days ago. Just the UK map for Techpack. Happy to UL somewhere if people want to try it?

That's a kind offer. Here in deepest Devon we have 2MG broadband but if you can upload to a Dropbox account or similar then I'd like to give it a go.

If you don't wanna wait for Ali to get his finger out his backside I'm uploading my update to Dropbox. Started about half hour ago with ETA of 3hrs!! (good old Sky, downloads ar great.........uploads err, yeah!!)

Mine updated on the MMI in under 5mins which I'm guessing means I may have had the latest version already?

May need a steer to host the link when it's uploaded as rather sketchy on file sharing.......... :)

(only GB/Ireland I'm afraid............don't wanna die of old age uploading Europe, not to mention it won't fit on the freebie account!!)

You guys clearly know more about this than me!

When I grabbed the last map update from myaudi last night there were 2 options, Europe aprox 5gb and GB/Ireland 1.2gb.

If what I'm uploading is of no use to man nor beast could someone please put me out of my misery? ;)

Ye Gods - Full (European) Map download 18.8 Gb!!! Just took the best part of 5 hours to download, verify and copy to the SD card. Phew. Didn't help that I had to update Java first as they released a new version yesterday. Ha!

OK, now got to find a trip long enough to get it to upload in the car! Wonder how long that will take......?

Takes about an hour. You don't have to complete in one go. If you stop, it will just continue when you next set off.

Excellent thanks for that! I'll do it on my way to work tomorrow then with the traffic on the M25 and my length of journey (74 miles each way) it will have at least 2 hours to complete in.
 
Has anyone noticed any major changes with the map update in terms of new roads.
My car is now 3-weeks old but when I was near Aston Martin in Lighthorne, according to the sat nav I was technically off road.

Just wondered how up to date the data is

Not a clue really. This latest updated added quite a few roads near me that have been around for about a year, but others that have been present for 3+ years now are still not listed. Nearly all minor and major junctions changes throughout the outskirts have yet to be updated for me.

Then again, as I said previously, the road signs where I live still display directions to buildings and area's that don't exists any more, some have been gone since before I started driving yet are still signposted. Doesn't hold much confidence in the digital system being correct if they cant even get the road signs right!

More like everyone trying to download maps at 18Gb !! probably it looks like a DOS to them ;¬)

I also received the same response so it does look as though they are on the case. Let's hope so anyway.

The sites back up but still no map update widget for me ;o(
 
I may be naive but I'm quietly confident that the Germans will fix it (I did live in Germany for 5 years!). I also have names on the email they sent.

If I go in using Chrome I can see the Map Update, but If I go in via IE11, it says "Service not available".

Try using Google Chrome to access........ :)
 
I'm using chrome...tried also with firefox. No maps.

I tried with chrome and also firefox...no maps.
 
Hmm odd, as def works for me under Google Chrome, but not under IE11. I just checked again....and here's what I see under Chrome

Yep, that's exactly what I got.....................Chrome here too. Very weird that some can access and some not??
 
With ie11 reset your browser setting in tools/advanced and make sure java and any other plugins are installed and up to date and delete all cookies and history...
 
If have noticed that as well, have you tried to copy/paste the link to "services" here for people who cannot access it ? sometimes, the link will work.
 
Java is a funny beast. I wonder if there is commonality on the browser being used by those not seeing the update. I use Firefox, and had no issues. Wonder if it's MS Edge (with Win 10) or IE that's the issue.
 
I've tried the exact setup that worked last time with the 17th Nov Java update on both IE and Firefox, two laptops and the work computer mixing W7 and W10 and Internet browsers. Also tried my iPad and moby so fairly convinced it's an issue at Audi's end.

Well I guess y'all gonna have to wait for the site to get sorted.................I can't even give my GB map away!! lol

Does this really need a 32GB SD card for this to work?

I set aside a 4GB card to do this but the pdf the myAudi site refers to say I need at least 32GB of free space on the SD. If that is the case then I guess I'll wait to when Black Friday comes for some cheap SD card deals.

Black Friday?? You do realise 32gb cards are under a tenner?!! lol

If you want to download the full European maps then they are 18.8Gb - so yes you need a larger card than 4Gb. Whether a smaller card would accommodate one country - no idea.

And as SimonL says, 32Gb memory cards are under a tenner!
 
Maybe you can borrow one from a friend or a family member, nephew, any photographer, geek or tech lover should have some large SD cards in stock :)
My largest are 64gb

What about cars produced now or in the coming weeks, lets say mine should be available january/february 2016.
Will I get the 2016 maps pre loaded or will I have to 'spend' one of my 'free' updates on doing it ?

I suspect some manufacturers sometimes produce cars without pre loading the latest firmares/maps for their sat nav... so hope this wont be the case with Audi !

Depends on your dealership really. I picked up my S3 in January 2014 and had the latest updates but when I picked up an A1 a few years back, it was 2 versions behind on the maps version.

Maybe contact them in advance and ask for it to be up to date for collection?
