Rejection?

So, update! I’m going to pick an A5 up tomorrow from the dealer repairing the car, it will probably be a poverty spec Sportback but I will save a handful of money on fuel and they go really well (assuming it’s a diesel).

More info on the bolts situation, after my Dad forced it out of them. Audi Technical asked them to remove the bolts to check for any scoring marks on the rack to see if it had been moving, it’s our belief they found none and replaced the bolts because you have to. Now the noise is still there Audi have said to remove the rack again and check again for scoring, stupid really as the car has only done 15 miles max since. Once that’s done, they will see what they say.

I’ve been told they are definitely not changing a rack at this stage. They mentioned the rack to Audi, who refused to comment on the suggestion at this stage and just said try the bolts.

Not to belabour a point but this dealer's service department is truly suspect as to their ability to diagnose an issue and/or honesty with you as to what they are doing. Audi technical telling them on the phone what to do rather than sending an Audi technician to inspect or to observe and hear via video conferencing seems odd in my mind. All you seem to be getting is what the dealer is willing to tell you.

Up until now they have been fine and I’ve had full confidence in them looking after the car properly. The girl on service I deal with is lovely and I’ve been perfectly civilised with them, shown no sign of frustration so far.

Question is how to get Technical to come listen, I doubt they will do that. I’m going there in the morning to pick the A5 up, then once the repair is complete (I told them it has to be tomorrow, otherwise I’m working till Tuesday) I will go back and drive it if required. I would rather go and drive it than have a technician racking loads of miles up having been given the excuse to. Leave them to their 5 mile route, I can go test it properly then.

An interesting reply. I thought that only Audi can reject a car after all avenues have been explored for an issue that has not been resolved by the dealer's service department with the advice of Audi. That would include in also replacing the steering rack again. I might suggest that any competent mechanic should be able to diagnose a steering rack problem or another steering component such as tie rods, or is he at a loss to diagnose the issue. It sounds very odd that the steering rack would fail again and is it the exact same issue you had before with the steering rack? Also strange that the service department had test driven the car and stated that the issue had been resolved with the steering bolts and that was not the case.
I know what I would be thinking about that dealer's service department.

Me too, its not as good as my department!

So I picked up a really nice A5 Coupe Sport this morning. It has done 5600 miles as a demonstrator though and for that reason is in a bit of a state, spent a few hours today cleaning it and it looks a little better for it. 2.0TDI 190PS, they go really well as I remembered and at a nice 60mph plod home I saw 65-70mpg!!
I’d be more than happy staying in this for several weeks if mine got rejected, mainly because it’s not the Sportback (looks like an old mans car in base specs).

I’m about to go to Audi to get an update on the bolts replacement today, they were going to try their best to do it (I hope they have). At the same time my private plate is coming off... I would have struggled at any time whether I was selling it or not, so taking the plunge today.

This the new shape A5? Come on... post some pics :D

It is indeed, I shall have to get some pictures of it soon. In work now for 2 days, so likely after that :( Plus the rubbish Welsh weather is at its best.

So, guess what?! The car wasn’t worked on today.. two days now it’s sat there with parts and not had work done. The girl on service is being really nice again, I felt too guilty to have a go. I’ve gotten my point across and my concerns, they are going to get it worked on tomorrow hopefully.

The dealer don’t expect this repair to fix it either, because all they are doing is removing the rack to check for any scoring on it (car has only done 15 miles since it was last removed), madness! But this is protocol :( Fingers crossed I will have the diagnosis next week :(

REMOVING the rack and checking for scoring on it!!!!!!!!
And while it's off let's just replace it with a new one will be there thinking.
What evers going on I hope you get the results your expecting, and the girl on the counter is being really nice,is being nice because it's her job to be nice,it's what's she's paid to do.

Yes it’s madness but basically Audi think it is moving. If it is a rack, it’s being rejected forget replacing it.

I’m used to people being p***** off so it’s refreshing.

Now I am absolutely f****** furious! The car still hasn’t been started, parts have been there 3 days.

Think what Steff was getting at is they could be thinking, "we'll stick a new rack on and he'll be none the wiser"

I’m pretty confident that isn’t the case, they are just doing as instructed but ridiculously slow. Monday now, fs!!!

Honestly Matt wake up,there taking the ****,plain and simple.
Your new rack will be in transit from Germany.
Like Tom said above, and I mean this,I typed the same as him but deleted it before posting,"he'll be none the wiser"
Who gives a feck what loan car you got to use,it could be an RS6+.
End of the day your paying for a car that's fecked sitting in the dealership that's supposedly sold in 10 days or so.
Wake up and get on to them, quility control who ever in Audi UK and tell them your going to escalate it through Auto express or the likes..
Grow a pair.

I’ve tried all, honestly. Audi UK called today and can’t escalate anything, all over to the dealer. I’ve spoken to the Head of Business at the repairing dealer, who basically said be grateful for it beinb looked at around other work.

My service advisor emailed at 16:00 to say it wasn’t being touched till Monday, I just had a call at 17:00 to say that it has been completed and is fixed having replaced the same bolts as last week. They said it was all fixed last week the same. I am going down Sunday and will give it a good ****** driving like they should be driven, to see if it comes back. If it doesn’t, I’ve told them I will be back on Monday to do the same again. I don’t believe the problem has been solved.

I wouldn't be wasting anymore of my time on this, time is precious and can't be returned ecspecily for a stupid pocky faulty car from being damaged in the first place from Audi.
Get on to Blackhorse and tell them the situation, let them deal with it,stop payments but agree on it to do so with them so it doesn't affect your credit rating. Tell them your losing your hair, putting on weight (as your dead skinny) in a previous post of yours.
Tell them what ever crap you want to stop the payments and I bet they ****** jump then believe me. And to ram the replacement A5 up the ****

I wish it was this easy!

Blackhorse are rubbish, don’t really want to know and have no power in this. They have told me to not stop paying, I still have to pay whatever happens.

I’m in work at the moment and I’m having to run off and hide because I can’t have a phone on me, bosses aren’t pleased.

Blackhorse must be treating you the same way as Audi then, fobbing you off.
When my gear box was out of the RS3 Believe me Blackhorse new about it. They even said themselves that it was there problem as therilotcly they have sold me the car,and they were taking it up with the supplying dealer that I enquired it from.Anyway different story.
So Matt....your in working on a Friday and fair play to you mate.
To pay for a car that's sitting fecked in a dealers forecourt right now!!!!!!!
Oh but you got a manky A5 loaner to clean yourself as a replacement!!!!!!
I wouldn't be buying any RS3 till this is resolved bud.
I'm not giving you a hard time I'm just stating the obvious.
I start at 10 tonight so no the feeling.

If this car really is a dud then I think it’s time you contacted consumer rights. You are either going to have to sell this car for under market value or be stuck with it whilst the situation drags on. People who buy s3’s will more than likely be looking at this site and know to avoid a certain grey one.

Can’t be far off the RS arriving either, the supplier of that won’t hang around forever, he’ll have people queuing for it.

I know you want to retain a relationship but it’s costing you now.

My experiance of black horse (6+ years ago) was exceptional. Have a candid conversation, stop paying and you will soon see results. Worst case pay the money to a third party, a solicitor for imatance so you can prove you are still 'paying' until a solution is found, you are being too kind

Simple. Take the car and all keys and paperwork to Audi. Phone Blackhorse. Tell them you've returned the car and are refusing to pay any more until it's sorted.

@AudiNutta ..Just a thought , and I know you are less than happy putting it politely, but have you considered that any one (or all) of the parties you are dealing with from Audi UK, to any of the dealers though to the finance company might be reading your posts here.

As this is rumbling on and on, could be better to let them get on with sorting it out and refraining from public judgement

Blackhorse own the car, and it will probably be their say and Audi's on rejection and you are liable for all payments as per your contract. You can hire a lawyer but that can be costly. I suggest you cool your heels and let Audi fix the car, as you have a loaner car. Badgering service departments, finance companies and the manufacturer just adds angst to all parties, including yourself.
As @Daveotto has stated interested parties may be reading all your posts on this S3 since you bought it.

They are a bit, first time around I thought they were proactive and enthusiastic. This time they promised to call next day, I waited over a week for the call. When I did speak, they basically said it wasn’t down to them but the dealer.. but they had 56 days to find a resolution.

This is my problem, I don’t have time to seek any advice.. whatever Audi do, I will have to accept. The RS is being built 2 weeks Monday, not far away at all.

Thank you! It is costing me, valuable time when I need to be selling the S3 but Audi aren’t bothered by that even though there is £54k coming their way.

I need to call them back, I missed a call a couple of days ago and didn’t bother getting in trouble in work to call back because they haven’t been a lot of help. I will be telling them I feel there is a lack of support from their end.

I’m still obliged to pay, Audi are keeping me mobile which is part of the service I’m paying for in having a car from them. Whether the car is parked at Audi or at home, the finance company still need paying because I’m paying to own that car and I totally appreciate that.

I consider this with every single post I put up and whatever I post, I’ve read and am happy for any such part to read.

I really have been patient throughout, the car has been there 2 weeks Sunday and we still aren’t anywhere close to finding a fault. Today I got annoyed, having been assured it was going to be worked on 3 days later than originally told. I have spoken to the Head of Business (calmed down before this), he expressed they are doing their best. The centre have put me in one of their cars at a cost to them, Audi aren’t paying them.

As @Daveotto has stated interested parties may be reading all your posts on this S3 since you bought it.

So the belief is, the supplying dealer have to agree that rejection is justified. In which case they present the investigation to a part of Audi UK who then can argue their point either way. Once both the dealer and Audi UK agree it is justifiable, the finance company is involved and amongst the 3 parties they work out who owes what and where (I could have to pay a small amount) to reject the car.

As said above, I really have been so calm with them and just taken it as it comes. Today I expressed some displeasure, but it’s over now and I’m waiting to test the car Sunday so see if it isn’t fixed again like it wasn’t on Monday. I will be amazed if it is, seeing as they have done the exact same job. I’ve not spoken to the finance company for nearly 2 weeks (once), I’ve spoken to Audi UK 4 times (2 of which they called me), I try to get daily updates from the service department because we should be making progress on a daily basis, but this has been lacking this week.

Yep, you read that right haha! Exclusive Colour didn’t help.

0% discount too :/ But I will have mine in 5 weeks time, rather than 5 months time... it’s a price to pay. I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss the boat on this one.

Not as simple as that is it, I’d lose a £1000 deposit and say if in 3 months car is sorted, I could be left waiting until July onwards for another one and they are in limited supply already.

I’ve yet to mention my new order to Audi in relation to this case, maybe I will bring it up next time he calls.... lost confidence etc etc. Everybody in work is saying I’m mad for buying another. RS is coming soon, S3 will be gone whether Audi have to buy it off me still stuck there or sold privately to a trader having been permanently fixed.

In other news, the interior in this A5 is stunning. I’ve driven cars with the new interior before, but I’m trying hard to not fall for it haha. In the night it lights up like a Christmas tree, absolutely stunning!!! Gutted my new car doesn’t have this interior :tearsofjoy:

Another mistake......

Clunking problems from the suspension so more dealer visits ensued, not good if you run your own business, Audi & Dealer unsure what to after replacement of top mounts didn’t cure the problem.
Then Gearbox issues with harsh down shifts, again super tech dispatched from MK, more dealer visits, another issue unresolved with silly explanation offered of ‘it’s a characteristic’ of the RS, yeah right, how come a couple of other RS3’s I drove didn’t do it. FO Audi.

Steering wheel leather started to wear through looked terrible, again Audi explanation ‘it’s wear and tear’ on a near 50k car....FO Audi.

Never again.......

Mate Jazzy is talking sense here. The repairer don’t sound like they have a drive to reject it, may be that would be different if they were supplying the RS.

Take a step back may be discuss with your parents and best mate and see what they think.

There will always be an RS3 or may be it’s an RS4 in a years time, don’t cripple your pocket, it takes a long time to catch up again.

Either way hope it works out.
