In the past, VW Group and others, provided a means to manually drive these electric powered sunroofs shut, normally it involves depressing/disengaging the motor drive and getting direct connection to the drive mechanism and using a Torx or Allen key to wind the mechanism shut - usually accessible easily by removing a small cover/panel, ie no major strip down needed.
Allen key to do the job should be attached to the driver side plastic trim that pops off the end of the dashboard to reveal the fuses.
Then you should be able to drop the central light unit at the front to reveal the bolt to wind round i believe? But you’re saying that won’t work either?
Is it a panaramic roof?
Looks quite similar to this one on Fleabay.

If you look at the gear it appears to have manufactured weak points in it. The lines on the gear face would act as stress raisers and that is where it would fail if over loaded. Or is it how the gear is attached to the shaft.
You may be able to find a cheap replacement on Fleabay.
