Remember it has no warranty and second hand so I am trusting you that everything is in as new condition with all wires ect?

Why did you remove it, did you mention something about apple, does this unit not work with the aftermarket apple car play ?

Only removed cause I fitted apple CarPlay unit and that can also does rear camera, they won’t work together.

Got new camera and wires, plus full instructions via email.

There’s a company in the Netherlands that sells the camera (prefacelift) for €125 and corresponding camera module for €130 but also the facelift camera for €125 so it seems the facelift option is much cheaper since it has the module built in.
And can I get some comments on this video? The comment in Dutch tells that it’s a A3 etron my 2015 with facelift camera with objects recognition, never saw this before...

Did you find out if the facelift camera needs the extra camera module?

This retrofit is still pending, still did not find a camera for the right price. But the facelift camera does not need the module

@daniel brown Yes but also the quality of the housing as well.

Its a bit strange why they have not identified the camera, you need to worry about water proofing and if it will hold up to some of our nasty winters, also I live on the beach so I need to worry about salt air getting into the tinyest of spaces.

I think for an extra £200.00 or so pounds I would rather get DJALEX to fit mine with a Sony camera and full warranty and support, also can get the front sensors done at the same time.

I try to long code the 6C module, I get the error mentioned by someone in a prior post:

Coding rejected (actual coding is 0000000000....)
Error 31: Request out of range

Also, when I look up the errors in the 6C module, here are the errors:

(U101300) Control module not coded
(B201000) No basic setting

Hey everybody.

I've completed this retrofit some weeks ago. I followed the guide exactly as it was written.
In the beginning I had no picture when reverse was selected, but then I set "Vehicle menu operation-menu_display_pdc" to activated in 5F information adaptations like another user suggested in an older post, rebooted and all worked fine . Thanks a lot!

I also got an Andream carplay smartbox and I spent some time to make it work.
Seems to work properly when it comes to carplay, bluetooth etc, but although it's suppose to work fine with an OEM camera, I have not managed to do that yet.

Anyone has any experience with this unit? Is andream compatible with this retrofit?

Totally understand.

90% of the parts from an official / authorised VW group supplier will be “Virgin” and will have no coding or parameters pre-loaded. Things like Modern engine control units and gearbox control units do but cameras won’t. Chances are however that you will not be purchasing from a supplier like this as for example a dealership might supply a PFL camera for approx £300, the module for £350 but not be able to supply any wiring looms. You will most likely purchase a “kit” from a 3rd party, most of whom now flash and code the camera / module before sending in order to make sure it works.

Just want to say thanks to @DJAlix for the good advice .
instead of thinking about his own income he gives us free advice so, for example, I made a great deal on buying a facelift camera for my Pre-fl-A3
I bought a used 8V0827566A camera of a Sportsback A3 as mine , thus it came with exactly the right parameters Thanks to this forum installation
and coding was done in three hours without errors.

FL camera is for use with MIB2, so yes… it will work.

If you have front parking sensors you should use a pre-facelift camera so the parking button works, otherwise you can use facelift camera.

Parking button will work but only for the sensors, it will not trigger your FL reversing camera.

My car’s MMI does not have navigation. Will this retrofit work? Both Vagtec and kufatec’s cable set/wiring bundle says:

Only suitable for MMI/MIB2 navigation (PR no.: 7UF) or MMI Navigation Plus (PR no.: 7UG).

Some updates on this:
I read some reports that updating the gateway, in my car was originally 5Q0907530M, to version AM would solve the issue with the PDC button and it would also get rid of "message Parkhilfe_01 not received" error. Unfortunately the AM firmware is not present in those widely available flashdaten zips.

After updating the gateway to AM, the error was indeed gone, but the PDC button issue persisted in my case. With the error gone and as I read that AM solved the issue for others, at this stage, the main culprit remaining was the park asssist module.

Initially I updated the firmware for my OE park assist module 5Q0 919 294E to ver. K than L, but no luck. So I bought a cheap FL 8ch module 5QA 919 294B and this finally solved the PDC button issue but now I have a DTC on the park assist that I cannot get rid off:
09 (U112100) Databus missing message (Bremsensteuergerät - ESP_33 - kein Signal/keine Kommunikation) Break / short to ground. Lamp OFF Status unknown.

Any ideas on this?

Do not change Gateway, DONT make update to ABS !! (you will have permanent error on it, only online calibration with backup software will save u) dont change module PDC.

I find solution myself, u dont need to change nothing on car, only from coding is problem. if someone need help, send me private message and i will help you.

This solution is for PFL Audi a3 with retrofit FRONT PDC , REAR Camera and MIB2.

At the moment it switches off as you change gear whereas on my other cars it stays on till you start moving.
I’ve tried to change the switch off speed in the park assist but it makes no difference. As soon as I change from reverse to drive it switches off completely.

I think you have a facelift Audi 3 and a Mmi high. It is not possible. Only with the old rvc prefacelift.

Mine was also a DJAlix retrofit but keeps the camera on if I change from Reverse to Park. Can’t recall about moving to D - will have a try tomorrow.

2018 MY FL but I do have front sensors from factory if that makes a difference.

@AlS3BE - I checked mine yesterday and reversing camera stays on when I move to D/M and cuts out several seconds after moving off - not sure if that is based on speed or time. It also stays on if I move to P.

Mine is almost instant the gear lever is changed to something else. I remember my old a6 the camera stayed on till I moved forward to like 10-15mph. Maybe it’s the front sensors or some other coding

Hello all - and in particular @DJAlix ...

I'm discovering the coding game (I mostly work on '50s '60s vehicles), yet my wife recently had to change her family Citroen XM for a may 2018 (FL) Audi A3 8V Sportback : as she tows regularly, after browsing through many forums - unfortunately I found this one a bit late... - I embarked on retrofitting an OEM RVC (8V0 827 566B used from the USA). The car has rear parking radar only (no front parking radar). The supplier of harness (from eastern Europe) gave some coding/programming instructions, though it appeared that they were a bit confused with FL/PFL differences, and after several iterations I found out that their instructions actually came from the tutorial at the beginning of this thread...

I eventually concluded that the camera does work (dynamic highline included according to steering wheel position, image apparition/disparition with rear speed selection/deselection...), but only for about 20 seconds after an MMI reset: after that the screen goes back to what it had before (media, radio etc.), and since this appears similar to what other people encountered I hope this is only a coding/programming mistake: any lead or suggestion would be much appreciated on how to debug/fix this...

Also, the car has a Westfalia trailer hook installed (with CAN light module I understand), and a far east module that memorizes the status of the Start/Stop button so that one does not have to press deactivate S/S everytime (would be CAN as well I suppose). That would trigger me an extra question in case I eventually manage to get the camera working: how would one select among parking assitance (2 colored lines) and trailer assistance (1 central line) if this can be installed ?

I saved an autoscan when trying to get the programmin/coding back to FL recommendations as specified in this thread (esp. back to terminal15 rather than environmental, after some trials) - then noticed that there was now a new error in 5F but had to give up so here it is, file attached...

Well, thanks to the excellent service and sharp knowledge of the intricacies of the VAG coding of @DJAlix, he remotely got the RVC camera to operate like it should! I'm not 100% sure of what was wrong where, but he looked over it via VCDS and set it up right the first time: I remain very grateful and impressed by this experience...

Rear sensors work exactly as before but unfortunately you gain not graphic display unless you also retrofit them to the front of the vehicle.

Nothing to fix. FL cars cannot display rear only parking sensor graphics, not without changing some hardware anyway.
