I got a couple of very small stone chips on my Manhatten Grey saloon within 4 weeks of collecting it - bit of a shocker. Having a very light colour primer undercoat doesn't help either - unless it's a white car and you probably won't even know it's there.
I had a ceramic coating applied before...
I think I was unlucky with my first stone chips. I now remember one morning on my way to work something hit the car after an SUV sped past me. Probably came from one of it’s tyres at speed.
I've ordered mudflaps and was thinking of fitting them myself. I couldn't find anything on this anywhere for the 8Y.
I was assuming it would be straightforward.
Would they use the same holes as seen here with blanks?
Yes, my previous old A3 Sportback had the mudflaps from new.
With so much grit on the roads left over from winter and lots of gravel roads in Finland I'll get the mudflaps fitted. Anything to limit stonechips has to be a good thing. Shame I didn't think about it earlier.
I washed my car for the first time today after collecting it about 4 weeks ago and noticed a couple of small stone chips on the rear quarter. Perhaps inevitable but was hoping I wouldn't see any so soon, especially after having the ceramic coating applied.
It was suggested I could have mud...
Washed my car today for the first time since I collected it about 4 weeks ago. Looks good but afterwards I noticed what seems to be my first small stone chips :culpability:- see my other post about that under mudflaps. Used the two bucket method with washing mit and my own ph neutral shampoo.
On my old A3 Sportback 8P you could fold back the wing mirrors manually - just push them inwards if you were in a tight parking spot.
My new A3 doesn't have the electric folding mirrors, which I'm not too fussed about but was wondering if you can just push them inwards yourself in the same...
I collected my car today after having a ceramic protective coating applied yesterday. I never bothered on previous cars since they were so old, but this is a new car and new to me. I wanted to get this done ASAP while it was still immaculate. Still only less than 400km on the clock just now. I'm...
I've just collected my new A3. Saloon 30 Progress Plus in Manhatten Grey.
It's a 'demonstrator' which hadn't yet been driven or registered so was available immediately which is what I needed. My 18 year old Sportback failed it's annual inspection on front suspension and was able to trade it in...
The noise I had wasn't intermittent but always there. It gradually got more noticable over a few months. I know it sounds strange but I never found out what the actual gearbox fault was - I was so overwhelmed with relief that it was fixed that I didn't bother finding out.
Sounds similar to a noise I had which turned out to be gearbox failure. At first I thought the noise from my car came from the engine. I didn't believe it could be the gearbox until I had a second opinion. Had the gearbox replaced with a used one. I posted details and videos on this forum...
I was once told that that being in Finland, they have a 'winter pack' so they should have heated seats as standard. The cars here are very expensive but I think the spec is better than on the UK cars - I haven't tried a comparison though. I'm looking at close to €40,000 (£35000) for a Sportback...
I'll probably be changing my A3 8P within the next year and will be looking for an ex-demonstrator 35 MHEV.
The demonstrators are usually pretty well loaded with optional extras but I was wondering from owners experience what they think are the best/most useful features to have?
I was hoping...
